I tried downloading all the things that come up to enable me to do this but it's not working.  Can someone help me, please?

Dan

Post a link to a site that you can't play video on.  That would help.

Can you watch youtube.com and video.google.com stuff?
Can you watch the movie trailers on apple.com?

I can't watch youtube and video.google stuff, I haven't tried watching movie trailers. But here's a link I tried to watch this morning:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHD1uxujnFQ
It said I needed to download adobe and flash something. :-\

Dan

Open a new tab or windows and type the following in the address/location field:

  about:plugins

Cut and paste the contents in a reply here.

Raineyrocks

Okay, I hope I do this right, I think I understand what your asking me to do so here goes!

I typed it in and it said Alert, the program you typed in isn't recognized by firefox, (it wouldn't let me copy and paste).

Russell Kanning

another work around is to open those video links in whatever browser worked for you before. :)

Thats not possible in firefox...  must have been some other application?  Oh!  You typed it into "Open File"  Try it in "Open Location" or press CONTRL-L  and then enter "about:plugins" without the quotes.

Lloyd Danforth

I did that.  Everything is enabled but the default plugin?

Dan

Lloyd: I thought I was helping Kate?
Kate:  I'm looking for a cut-and-paste of the about:plugins page.  Mine looks like:

But I did download everything they said to and it still didn't work. I'm going to watch them on IE and then switch back to firefox after.

I seem to recall that this is a real pain to get working and requires a couple of tries. But I think Dan's instructions are correct.

Click here and say 'Yes' and 'Next' a lot.

I think maybe there's one where you have to say No, or Firefox, or something oddball. So watch carefully when you do it.

I'm afraid I don't remember; it's been so long since I had to do this. My Linux system already comes with it. :P
