The planning board keeps trying to pass zoning here in Haverhill and the voters keep voting it down 2 to 1. So we have started a petition to abolish the planning board. This is a link to the North Country news where this story was on the front page.? ?http://www.northcountrynewsnh.com/web_pages_000002.htm

They had 150 signatures not too long after it was started.

I'm just curious if anyone knows what happened with this.  I looked up the Haverhill web site and found a zoning board.

http://www.town.haverhill.nh.us/zoningboardminut.html

This doesn't look good.

I checked for towns in NH without zoning by comparing these maps:

http://www.nh.gov/oep/programs/GIS/documents/zoning1117.pdf
http://www.nh.gov/oep/programs/GIS/documents/pop2000.pdf

It looks like all the areas without zoning have no real towns.  Haverhill is the only one that looked promising.

Grafton has no zoning, although, it has a planning board. Getting rid of the planning board is one of the things we are working on.
Lempster has no zoning, but, has some sort of problem.

Several of the unzoned towns on that 2004 map have since adopted zoning, I scrounged around on various NH government websites last year and came up with the following updated information. Of course some of it may already be outdated or otherwise inaccurate.

Incorporated Towns in NH without Zoning Board as of 2007:
Grafton Co: Grafton, Canaan, Alexadria, Rumney, Wentworth, Orford, Warren, Ellsworth, Woodstock
Sullivan Co: Lempster
Carrol Co: Tamworth, Chatham
Coos Co: Stark, Errol, Stewartstown, Clarksville, Pittsburg, Dalton?

Unincorporated Areas without zoning authority:
Grafton Co: Livermore

Unincorporated Areas subject to zoning by Coos County Planning Board:
Bean's Purchase, Success, Kilkenny, Cambridge, Odell, Millsfield, Dixville, Dix's Grant, 2nd Coll Grant, A-G Grant

For various reasons Grafton is still number one on my list, now if I can just convince my wife to live out in the sticks there'll be a couple more votes for removal of the planning board.

We had close to 20 Porcs at our Potluck, last night, here in Grafton.
