Quote from: raineyrocks on April 11, 2007, 04:18 PM NHFTI think what your saying is either lock them up , (the real sickos), or after they've served their sentence let them be and there's where I have the problem.  How could just letting them be when they get out be okay?  I'm all for locking them up for good so they can't hurt anymore children.  The justice system is all screwed up when they incarcarate someone for 20 years for getting caught with pot but let child molesters out in 1 year or so.  I'm disturbed that the sicko is free to molest again also and all for making more room in prisons by legalizing pot too.  So where are we differing here?  How am I being wishy-washy?

I think what folks are saying is that, instead of supporting the "registry" laws, they'd prefer if you supported longer sentences or other punishments, instead.  Personally, if anyone molests my child(ren), they better hope the law catches them, because living on a bridge would be heaven compared to what I'd do to them...

If that's what everyone is saying then I totally apologize, I misunderstood.  I hear you on your last sentence, same goes here.

The guy living under the bridge in Florida was one of those 18.1 year olds having sex with a 15.9 year old.

Rainey - I don't mind being disagreed with, I'm quite used to it :)

If everyone agreed with me, I'd have to change my opinion...

You're so disagreeable! ;D

RR, to be fair, you never specifically said you support the registry laws. I inferred that from your first post where you said you don't care if they're lives are ruined (the real molesters, anyway). I hear you on that.

My whole point is the registry laws are fucked up bullshit. Everyone should be against them. They are like gun control laws in that they provide no real protection. They just pacify the ignorant masses and give them an artificial sense of safety. So registry laws don't protect children from the people who are a real danger to children, and they aren't fair to the ones who aren't a real danger to children. If you have no sympathy, then support longer, if not permanent prison sentences. Supporting registry laws makes no sense, no matter what your feelings about molesters may be.

One of those controversial men, huh?   :)  Thanks for not getting upset.  I don't get upset if people disagree with me either, (most of the time :-\).  I get upset when someone constantly tries to get me to think like them or believe what they do.
I argue a lot with people like this, example time here:
Jane Smith says, "I hate the color purple."
Joe Smith says, " Hey my sister loves the color purple."

Oh okay, well then if your sister loves the color purple you expect me to apologize and love the color purple too!  I can't stand that kind of stuff, it really urks me. Do you know what I mean?

Got it now, thanks! :)  I agree the entire system is so screwed up it isn't even funny.
