Last time I was in Court a guy brought his own tape recorder so he could record his own (un-edited) copy.  He did get hassled by the thug searching bags, tho...

"Squid pro quo" Austin Powers called it!

I bet they would let you into the court chamber with Russell, they've got too, right? :-\

earthhaven

I think they will let everyone in for this one because it is his first time in court for this. If his case is sent to superior court he will definitely have an open trial, but I know some of the trials that are held at district court are closed doors.

I wish I could go.  I would like to learn how it turns out, what arguments are used, and if the judge writes an opinion, I would like to read that as well.  I will be praying for Russell.  I believe that the current system is unconstitutional.

Careful with that; the law is ambiguous and police throughout the State have been abusing it.
For one example of many, News-Google Michael Gannon from Nashua.

It's all over the State.
The best likely legislative solution on offer was killed in committee:

I've got some choice words for them!

John

Just had a short conversation with Corpoal Knowels over @ the PRISON . . .

From what I gained, Russell will NOT be in court in the morning - because he is refusing to be "proccesed."

LOL...they're having a difficult time with their prisoner.  I bet he'll be in court.  Thanks for making the call, John.

Kat Kanning

No jury, Ian.
Thank you, earthhaven and DoL.

I really don't like how the police uses military designation for various ranks in the hierarchy. Are they military or civilian... Obviously military as they wear uniform and have military designatory ranks.

It just occured to me why Lt. Maxfield said something last night.  He was talking about how nonviolent the arrest had been.  I told him I didn't consider kidnapping my husband to be nonviolent.  He also said that they didn't demand any money from him during the evening.  That seemed kinda strange at the time, but I just realized that he must have read my article referring to them as highway robbers demanding money when they did traffic stops.

Sergeant Russo did the arrest, btw.

No, the demand for money comes later. Probably this morning, or whenever they carry him into court. >:(

This has always irked me too.  Same with Fire departments.

The guys I've interacted with from the Keene police have been pretty low-key so far.  The ones associated with Russell's arrests have been calm and haven't tried to pull a lot of macho junk on us.  The worst one was the guy who came to our place looking for Dada, who gave me kind of a tough interrogation, but even he wasn't too bad.

Some of these guys seem to really get into the paramilitary macho thing and get in your face and yell and stuff, but I haven't seen that in Keene so far.
