I just sent off an envelope with a few things to read in it, and a message sure to annoy the jailers.

I was wondering what the purpose of the fast is in this kind of situation. I know that Ghandi and his supporters practiced it, but don't really know what the reasons are.

A little extra pressure on those imprisoning my husband.  I believe Gandhi did it to put pressure on his supporters  :o

My letter to Russell will go out this weekend.

Is there anything we can send him in jail at all?

Kat Kanning

Thank you lastlady!  Printing articles is good.  He has access the jail library's books, but we can't really send them to him.  Pictures are OK. I can't think of anything else.

Hi Kat,
Sorry it took me forever to post, but I've been thinking of you.
Tomorrow I'll bring some postcards and stuff to our Dartmouth area meeting so we can all write to Russell.
If there's anything I can do for you please let me know.
By the way, this tea may help you fast (if you need help; sounds like you're doing fine on your own): http://www.yogitea.com/Herbal-Tea/Tea.asp?Tea_ID=HF07

thanks that is helpful, I will create a care package of sorts of printed material.

Again my love to you and your family. I hope the fast goes well. I'm glad you're drinking lots of water. I once looked at a book from a doctor who was a polical prisoner for many years (somewhere in the middle east I think), he wrote about how he healed many of the other prisoners with nothing but water.

Kat Kanning

Thanks, Stephanie!

lastlady, I read that book :)

The police prosecutor is Sgt. Eliezer Rivera

Any major news coverage of his imprisionment?

Kat Kanning

Just something about it on WKBK radio the morning after his arrest.

Seems like overkill.  Testify to what?  We all saw Russell drive with a light out.  We all saw Russell drive without a license.  We all didn't see Russell show up for court............

Kat Kanning

I just got a note from Russell's mom.  She talked to him on the phone.  She said:

    1.  he can't receive clippings from papers or mags tho copies are ok
2   can receive books or larger things if the place "knows ahead" of time

Where is there logic in that?
No originals?  we just want you to break the copyright laws..

Kat Kanning

You expect logic from a jail ??

Also, was the court date 4/18?  And what time?  It looks like they may only give out transcripts, not audio recordings.  I'm still gonna try to find out on Monday, and it would help for me to give them the date/time of the proceeding...
