The New Hampshire Supreme Court has ruled that police have to return pipes seized from Smoke Signals Pipe and Tobacco Shop in Dover after manager Susan Hargrove and her mother, owner Kelly Hargrove, were acquitted of drug paraphernalia charges.

Unfortunately, the court did not rule that the drug paraphernalia law is too vague to be enforceable.

Yeah, cause, you know, those damn stoners!!!  Always going out and committing violent acts and such, terrorizing the populace...

Oh, no, wait, hold on a sec, that's the government thugs dressed in black ski masks with tape over their badges, or not wearing badges or identification at all.  Never mind...

They sell Salvia Divinorum at Smoke Signals. Legal hallucinogenic drug. They've already started banning it across the world, experience buying it legally while you still can :P

I read about Salvia, and heard a couple of people's experiences described on FTL. I have no interest in trying it myself. I might buy some, though.

Captain Liberty,
There is a post against Ron Paul based on how wonderful Socialist Sweden is.  I don't know enough about Sweden to have a clue how to address him, but wondered if you could:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0407/3582.html

Paul: "What is it that possesses anybody to think that governments, which (are) not trusted by anybody, should allow them to provide all these big benefits? ... That is the most astounding philosophy in the world, and it has never worked..."

I couldn't disagree more...just look at how the U.S. matches up, to say...socialist Sweeden in the Financial Times World Desk Reference (2004?):

GNP/capita - SW-9th ($25.4k); US-6th ($34.3k) Life expectancy - SW-2nd (80); US-30th (77) Literacy - tied for 1st at 99% Infant Mortality/1000 births - SW-1st (3); US-34th (7) Human dev. index (?) - SW-2; US-7 Sustainability - SW-3rd; US-45th Crime (#/100K): Murder - SW-10; US-6 (will have to compare gun regulation here) Rape - SW-23; US-32 Theft - SW-7484; US-3805

# Doctors - SW-1 per 322 people;US-1 per 362 people.

This is a poor sample of the world community, but it definitely suggest that Pauls statement, "That is the most astounding philosophy in the world, and it has never worked..." might not be based on very good information...

Discuss!

All I can say that Sweden is not as lovely as the 'Swedish government statistical agency' portrays it. Queues are of course catastrophical everywhere, our finances are like all other governments not going to be enough for my generation, police luckily are mostly sitting behind their desks filling out paper ;D infrastructure is so incomplete we don't even have "Interstate" roads all the way through Sweden, the normal political financial game is being played both in banking and corporatism, unions are legal mafia and are legally allowed to "shutdown" businesses if one refuse to contract with them, law system is of civil law and hence not based on equality of all people, their is no concept of negative rights, the king owns everything and everyone, we are a member of EU, government decides what media can be broadcasted, we have government media propaganda TV channels, all radio is governement radio, conscript army for everyone, probably 110% taxes considering inflation, and all hidden taxes, 25% of youth is without work, educational inflation where master equivalent education are normal today and still not worth it due to the heavy progressive taxation, all higher education is government run, libraries are propaganda outlets considering what books they will provide...

Well, well, well the list goes on and on and on and on and on and I suppose you all get the point

I will reply to the post on the Ron Paul forum probably tomorrow, I'm about to go to bed at the moment :)

Speaking of Sweden I'm actually quite worried because it appears I have a stone in my salivary duct, which usually requires removal with a small operation. With all I've heard about Swedish health-care, I'm more worried than I would be if there was a private hospital I could go to. The stone in my salivary duct has not been confirmed, though, and I've been known to have hypochondriac tendencies in the past, so hopefully it's just a regular sore throat or something.

I've never even HEARD of "stone in one's salivary duct."

I've heard about Salvia Divinorum too and the person who did it said never to do it alone.  Shoot I hallucinate without any need for this stuff, I'm just messed up naturally! :D
Isn't it still legal to order "mushrooms" from England?

When your spit gets stoned, it's time to put down the pipe.

Quoteprobably 110% taxes considering inflation, and all hidden taxes,

How does the tax system work over there?  When you get a paycheck, how much of it is left after taxes?  How about things like sales taxes, property taxes etc...  What % are these?

Actually, I guess this is pretty common and normally resolves itself.  On one of my dental appointments I had one.  The dentist says its a buildup of calcium.  It blocks the duct, which then swells up.  Sometimes you can massage it out.  And usually it just resolves itself.  If it doesn't after something like 6 months, then you have to do something about it.  So I'd hold off on having any quacks take a look at it.

First the employer pays ~32% on the salary before it is even handed out to the employee. Then depending on what town you live in you yourself need to pay between around 28% to 35% tax yourself on the salary. Sales tax is 25% for every one: retailers, distributors and probably manufactorers. Property tax was 1.5% but will be replaced by 20% on any profit you make when selling a house. Then there is capital-tax(Tax on papers, bonds and so on(Don't know that one)) and of course the mandatory special taxation of tobacco(40% from what I can find), alcohole(Based on % alcohole in the bevarage). Depending on the weight of the vehicle the road tax a few $100 dollars per year, gas-tax is about 70%. I am sure there is more but I can't keep track of every fucking tax.

And then of course inflation whatever that one is on, who knows?

error

According to the back of my napkin, even if you don't pay any of the special taxes, the government has taken nearly 70% right off the top.
