I've noticed there is interest in shared housing for porcupines. The Keene Sentinel has an ad for an open house in Lempster for a property for sale. Lempster is about half an hour north from Keene. It is a small rural community with no zoning. Go north from Lempster and you can intersect I-89 pretty quickly. (Check maps.)

The ad reads:

Open House, Saturday, April 21, 10 AM-Noon
137 Cutler Road, Lempster, NH

(Decent looking photo)

PASSIVE SOLAR ENVELOPE HOUSE on 4 private acres. Views of Silver Mt. 3200 sf finished on 3 floors. Attached 8' x 36' greenhouse provides heat, envelope design controls temp & circulation. 12 rooms, 3.5 baths 4+ bdrms. Master bdrm. suite, 12x25 kitchen, large pantry, 1st floor laundry room, mud room, 20x17 deck, 2-car gambrel roof  garage built in 2004, above-ground pool, children's play house and more. New roof, new vinyl siding, fresh paint throughout. Just 13 miles from Mt. Sunapee State Park for skiing, swimming & boating. Snowmobiles & hunting right here. $285,000 (Less than $90 per square foot) Call 603-763-4245

The number of bedrooms/baths and amount of elbow room make it a good candidate for shared living space if someone wanted to buy it and rent rooms or floors, etc. Enough land for shooting or whatever. Close enough to commute to Keene or Concord yet be in a very rural setting. This is one of the few towns left where property is still reasonably priced. It is on the fringes of development for the Lake/Mt. Sunapee area and the property is almost guaranteed to appreciate.

If we could afford it, we would get it. We will likely build our passive solar next year a bit smaller than this one.

Is anyone interested in going to this open house?
I am going to the Dartmouth meeting/Brown demonstration tomorrow and might just swing by this also...

That's right!, That's right!    You don't want to buy some over sized, used house!  You wanna build a house!   Yeah, that's it.....yeah, that's the ticket.................................

Not as easy as you might think just by looking at a map.  I'm just off 89, and pass though Lempster when I go to Keene.  It takes me about 40? minutes to get there.  There isn't a straight shot to 89, and you pass through several towns so the speed limit drops.

Nice area though.

Really nice area and tempting town, but not one I would want to rely on tenants to help pay for. New arrivals need proximity to jobs.

Someone I know checked it out yesterday. It's about a mile off Route 10 on a dirt road, sits up a little and has neighbors close enough but not too close.

It could work for someone who is able to work from home. Internet might be a problem though.

The Lake Sunapee region is pretty "booming" and it is just minutes away.
