I'm for it, if it is voluntary.  If the victim of the disease or a person responsible for them agrees, why not?  When my father was in a convalescent home, they had either him or his wheelchair on some sort of gadget  that buzzed  when he rolled off.  I believe electronics can be our friend. (smiles at computer, salutes smoke detector)

I suspect it is very easy to convince someone not in full control of their mental facilities that something which is not necessarily good for them is good for them. Reminds me of the last scenes in Requiem for a Dream where the docs get the loopy mom to sign a release for her own electroshock treatment. >.<
