what y'all got against vb?

Being a member of lots of different forums running lots of different software, I have to say that SMF is hands-down the best, most flexible for users, and seems to have the best support and options available to the administrators.

vBulletin, at least every installation I've ever seen, is seriously lacking in features.

phpBB isn't much better than vB, but at least it's easy for beginners to learn.

...lacking in features?
Like what?

(especially in comparison to this software... it has features?)

The most customized and feature-full forums that I've seen are all vbulletin forums.

Maybe we've seen different forums. All the vbulletin installations I've seen wind up looking like myspace pages -- skinned and themed and utterly unreadable.

This site is an example of a very nicely set up vbulletin forum:

Eh. To my taste, it's needlessly complex, with too much "stuff" littering the entry.

Then again, I don't do 'shrooms.  ;D

It's just like this site - the difference being that the main page and the forums are one, instead of seperate software systems (and prettier too :P)

Pat McCotter

I like this one - it's simple. Leave it alone!

Kat, thank you for the forum as it is!

I don't know how big my avatar is.  I like it nonetheless...

Does this avatar make my butt look big??

Mine appears to be its normal size.

Well, you know, I can't get the detail to show very well in mine at anywhere below 80 pixels.
depends on what compresssion algorith you're using. If you can get the image into Adobe Photoshop, you can chose "Save for Web" and there are at least 4 file formats available and 5 algorithms for making the picture smaller.

I don't find this a bad thing.
Giant avatars and signatures annoy me.  :-\
agreed

jason12085

I know I'm new around here but I too agree,  65x65 is just too small.  Bring back the 100x100.

I wish mine was its normal size.
