Everything in my yard is soaking wet today because it's raining. I cut a lot of brush yesterday to burn in the yard today, because with the rain everything would be wet and it would be safe to burn.

When my why went to local Fire Department to ask permission to burn today. She was told no. The state has a ban on all brush burning at least as of 1:30 today in the entire state. The fire department suggested I check back with them later to see if the ban has been lifted.

Once again the state telling us what we can and cannot do.

When my why went to local Fire Department ...

I like that...she's your Why :)

We were just talking about fire departments today.  It'd make so much more sense for them all to be volunteer and only work when there's a fire.  Now they're more like fire police.

GT

Oops typo. Yep. My wife is the reason WHY I do a lot of things. ;)

This govenmental hand holding is nuts. If I burn down my house it's my fault and I'll pay for it.

Oh and it still raining and my yard is still soaking wet. I've got nothing to do this afternoon cause the goverment won't let me do anything.

Russell Kanning

Maybe you should stop asking their permission :)

I think our fire department is volunteer here in Woodsvill. I had to get the permit from where the guy works at a garage. We can only burn from 5 pm to 9 am though. EDIT ( or if it's raining) but if it's a statewide ban I don't think they would give a permit until the satewide ban was lifted.

I saw that one comming when I heard on the news about the big drought so I burned last week.

GT

As of 4:00 there is still a state wide ban. It's been raining here all day and according to the weather reports we got at least an inch of rain.

A state wide ban is just plain dumb. What ever happened to "local control"?

Kat Kanning

It's pouring outside.  I doubt you could get something burning!   :o

We have been having a drought in SoCal since about 1925......so they like to use those scare tactics here too?

DC

Someone told me yesterday that they get a burning permit that last the whole year instead of the one like I got that only lasted for two days.

AlanM

Remember it's for the children. We don't want them to get wet when they set the neighbor's house on fire.

So is the draught over yet?....the river behind me is only rising 8)

Pat K

So how much trouble do you get in if you burn a burning permit?

The AG's office will seek a permanent injunction against you.

LiveFreeOrDie

And it will go down on your permanent record.

AlanM

If you have a permanent injunction issued against you, you have to relinquish all pitchforks AND potatoforks.  >:D
