Important MVP Meeting location Info for 10 AM June and July meetings!

Hey guys, re-posting info from the MVP Yahoo group about the change in meeting place and time.  Tell all your friends!

For our June "picnic" meeting, I've scouted out "Livingston Park" in
Manchester as our best bet. Why?

1. It's free. (Bear Brook costs each adult $3 to get in, and $280
to rent the large covered shelter. Which was already rented that
day.)

2. It's in a central location, just a little north of downtown.
It's on Rte 3/28 across from the Kia dealership. Google map here:

3. Parking is decent. If there's a soccer game that morning, it
might be a little crowded, but still do-able for our crowd. Extra
parking is found all around the park, around the tennis courts and
soccer fields.

4. Plenty of playground for the kids, a nice walking trail around a
large lake for the adults. I'll upload pictures later of a wooded
glen or athletic bleachers it has that we can meet on.

5. If it rains, there is a "Papa Gino's" restaurant just one more
light up the road which opens at 10:30 that will be our back-up
location.

Therefore, these are the details for the June meeting on the 2nd:

-Meet near the main parking lot near the lake.  Both the wooden glen or soft grass fields are a short walk from there.

-Bring folding chairs or blankets. There are not enough tables for
everyone if we meet in the glen.

-Bring food and drink for yourselves, others if you wish. There is
none at the park. There is a Dunkin Donuts 1 min down the road.
I'll bring some chilled bottled water for about 6 people.

-Bring outdoor fun gear (footballs, frisbees, I'll bring a
volleyball).

-As discussed at the May meeting, to have more Saturday free after
the meeting, the June meeting time will be 10 AM. Repeat: 10 AM.
This will also get us ready for the earlier July+ meetings (see
below).

-If it's raining, go one more stoplight to the north and turn into
the shopping center to the right, and we'll meet at the Papa Gino's
pizza place. They open at 10:30. If you have any question whether
it is raining (hard enough) or not, call my cell at 603-203-8564.

For July and beyond, I've worked it out with Keith how to meet at
the Tap Room while respecting his customers. They don't usually
open until 11:30, but Keith said he would bring the staff in early
once a month so we can meet in the front room at 10 AM. We should
usually be done by 12, and shouldn't run aground of the lunch
crowd. It might be good to be breaking up right when natives are
walking in, so they can see political fun in action.

Murphy's Tap Room is at 494 Elm St.

Parking is possible down Elm street to the south. You don't have to
feed the meters on Sat.

So we'll meet at Murphy's from July onwards!

Thank you to the whole group for your flexibility, patience and
willingness to try new things! I'm looking forward to a fun outdoor
meeting, throwing the volleyball around!

For Murphy's we should move it to 11am (just my opinion).

That way the staff doesn't have to go in too early.
We can have our 'meeting portion' then food when they are open.

I know that 10am is early for some people (not me... I like early)

dang  it coflicts with the manchester cleanup thing that's at 10am

Just curious, why was the monthly MVP meeting moved from a restraunt to a park, and pushed down in time?  I understand why it might be moved from Newick's, but I thought 1pm was a good time of the day to have it, and everyone could get lunch if they chose to.  Getting up early on Saturday to go to something at 10am just AIN'T gona happen!

IT was moved early because in July we are going to start having it early at Murphy's.  I thought it was gonna be early as in 11am.. but I guess it is 10am.

Not that I know of.  Newick's closed and Shavom hadn't worked out the deal with Murphy's yet.

For me, personally, 10am works great. If I close on a saturday night that we have a meeting, I can still make it in the morning!

Ah well, you can't please everyone though ;)

A couple things were in play....Newick's closed and Shuvom hadn't found another location. He suggested having it in a park since it was June. Murphy's room taht will be available for meetings is not going to be ready for many months, but Keith offered their place to us before they opened on Saturday morning - and people could stay for lunch afterwards. The majority of the people at the last meeting like the idea of earlier so that it didn't disrupt the whole day and people would still have time to do other things after the meeting. I believe the meetings used to be at noon but got pushed later because of Bickford's buffet.

"Early" is a relative term.....I'm guessing to those with kids and busy lives, 10:00 isn't all that early.

10am is late. ;D

error

10am? That's one of those odd times when the big yellow ball is up in the sky, right?

Quantrill

I'll be there only if one of my roommates wakes me up.  And I doubt very much that I'll be there by 10am.

AAAUUUUGHH!  TOO EARLY!!!

For those of us with full-time jobs and commutes, who only get two (maximum) days a week to catch up on sleep, and also have commutes to the MVP meeting, 10AM is prohibitively early.  I'm very surprised, and disappointed, by the rescheduling.  Apparently I missed the vote on this at a previous meeting cuz I was sick.  :P

I also couldn't believe how some people were allowing their young children to run completely amok during an adult gathering at which people were trying to eat (expensive) lunch and in a place of business at Newick's.  Newsflash: your kids aren't nearly as cute to the rest of the world as they are to *you*.  Their shrieks of glee, and toys flung through the air, are not "adorable" to all surrounding adults; they are "obnoxious". (I don't mean you, Dreepa, Colin was pretty mellow, and I played with his toys when he wasn't looking.  ;D )
