$2 bills at the pizza place near work in MA, no issue (but they know me).
$2 bills at the Wendys around the corner from that, to someone form whom English is not the first language (this location seems to have a crew largely from somewhere in Africa working that afternoon).  No problem.  She just said "Oh, $2 bill."

Up at a Hannafords in NH, no problem.  Darn it!

Yeah, they just stick them under the tray.  Easier than having a cow like the guy above.  My first retail job had a cash register from about 1910. All Bronze with a Marble platen thing. It had about 6 trays for bills and about 8 cups for change as they had some gold coins in circulation then (1910).  I could just about push the drawer shut.  When you pushed the lever a bell went off and the drawer shot open.  It only rang up to $5. My boss would go crazy jumping up and down ringing up a $100.00 gun sale ;D

I will be using $2 as change at Porcfest. :P

Quote from: Braddogg on June 14, 2007, 01:45 AM NHFTThat guy was being a dick.  The store dicked him over, and he wanted to dick the store over.  I work retail, and it's a hassle getting $2 bills.  There's no convenient place to put them, and if you try and give them out as change . . . well, I stopped doing that after the second attempt.  Same thing with those dollar coins.  I lived in a place that had the equivalent of 2-dollar coins which worked marvelously, but Americans aren't going to walk around with these huge, heavy coins (compared to where I lived, Israel, the golden dollars are huge) when there are paper alternatives.  The guy was a dick, and I would advise against using the $2 bills in normal life.

I've worked in retail in the past, and I never had a problem with getting and using the $2 bills.  And we got a lot of them from certain customers, since the local strip club gave them as change (if the customers have $2 bills instead of $1 bills in their pocket, guess what the girls get as tips?).  I used to keep both the $2 bills and the silly dollar coins on top of my cash drawer, and invariably someone would specifically ask for their change to include one or the other, or even just want to trade other FRN's for them.

As far as carrying coins, though, I carry half-ounce and one-ounce silver and gold coins and don't have any issues.  Americans love big, heavy coins when they are actually worth something.

Ever run a 'blacklamp' over those $2 bills?

That's some money that should definitely be "laundered".  :P

Sadly, they closed the one in my town.

Actually, it was generally pretty clean and fresh, since it tended to come more recently from the bank, rather than having been in circulation for years.

Do you miss the intimacy of, likely, overendowed,  women stripping in a room full of men?

Heh.  You could always go to Mark's down in Merrimack (I think... one of those towns along Rt 3, south of Manchvegas, anyway).  They have to wear pasties, so they never actually "strip" fully, and quite a few of them actually had normal bra sizes, last time I was there.  And there were a good number of women in the crowd ;D

I used a $2 bill when buying lunch, yesterday.  Oddly enough, no arrest...

I was talking to a Secret Service officer a week or so ago, and he pretty much wanted to go over and arrest the Best Buy folks and the cops who were involved, until I pointed out that the event was not recent.
