Well, that sucked.

I was getting ready for work yesterday at about five minutes 'til three, when a sudden storm hit and there was a huge crash. A forked pine tree right outside our bedroom window split, and took out about 50 feet of privacy fence, along with our electrical drop and phone line. It also smashed my good 24' fiberglass ladder that was hanging on the fence.

Total damage: about $1,000. Deductible: $1,153.  >:(

If the wind had been blowing the other direction, I would have gotten a desperately-needed new roof out of it.  >:(

The power company got the live line off the ground and reconnected within a couple of hours. Phone company didn't get us reconnected until about noon today, so we were DSL-deprived last night.

That $1000 could have been put to a better use......like shipping and other moving expense.  :P :P :P
