Does anyone know anything about Hebron?

Hello all,

My computer fried right after the last time I was on and I just got it back.

I'm interested if anyone is from Hebron?  Does anyone know anything about the town other than what is on line?  I don't know if there are any grocery stores or gas stations, or drug stores.  If not then how far away are they?

I really tried to get to Porcfest but the fates were not with me.  As I have read, I missed a good time.

In Israel?  Beautiful city, just duck when you walk around . . . .

I was talking about Hebron, NH, but I guess I wasn't that specific.  I saw a house that I was interested in on the MLS and wanted to know a little about the town.  I know that there are only 459 or so inhabitants and I was just wondering what the town might be like, or how far it is to civilization.

Plymouth is pretty civilized, and is only about 10 miles away. College town, and all that.

Perhaps Jan (malevil) can chime in about the area.

Hebron is definitely small town with a laid back lake-living feel.  Depending upon which end of Hebron you're looking at, either Plymouth or Bristol are the "major" towns near Hebron.  Plymouth is the larger of the two towns and has a WalMart, Hannaford Super Center, RiteAid, a state university, good hospital, and mountain recreation is very close by.  Plus, Hebron is on Newfound Lake, which is a big, beautiful lake that's not as congested as Lake Winnipesaukee.  Bristol and Plymouth both have nice Main Street-type downtowns.  I live in Thornton - 20 minute drive north of Plymouth.  We love it here.  Small town living, but not so isolated that you become a hermit.

I'm not sure what the political/tax situation is in Hebron.  I'll ask my son to respond, if you want to know about that type of thing...he pays closer attention to stuff like that!

PM me if you want to talk more about our area.

Hey, Kevin, when are you moving to my former hometown?!

Not soon enough.  >:(

Probably late 2008 or early 2009. I'm dying to get back there.

Thanks everyone.  Hebron is a small town but it has 40 properties for sale which sounds kind of high considering that the town is reported as having 459 people with - I think it was - 200 residences.  It has quite a lot of what I am looking for.  A big house with acerage and a big old barn for working in.  Compared with Rhode Island and some of the other towns I have looked at in NH, the taxes aren't bad either.

I custom made furniture for 13 years and loved every minute of it, but  because of the limited nature and time consumption, all I could produce was about 12 sets a year and limited income.  I'm thinking of moving up and giving it a go again.  I'm tired of the rat race.  I've been doing finish carpentry now for about 25 years and my knees are getting sore.

As soon as I can, I plan on taking a trip up to look around.
