Storyland and Canobie Lake probably have 2-3 'roller coasters'.

Bald Eagle

As interesting as they may be, there are a LOT of officials who play hanky panky with those numbers simply by changing the definition of what each thing means.

For example, to keep the murder rate down, if someone gets shot and killed during a robbery, they simply classify the crime as a robbery.  Things like this are what I hear from quite a few police officers and corrections officers.

Just an FYI.

I read to my kids everyday  :)

Oh, I have no doubts as to the dubious nature of such an animal as "statistics".

It is still interesting to note and consider.

How does NH end up at #51?  I'd have to assume they are including US territories in this.  Is this true for all the stat?

Awesome :)

I would read to my daughter every day...but she's 14 and has out-read me already (she just finished The Fountainhead and also performed a very shortened version of the John Galt monologue for her Junior High drama class final...she also does the "V" alliteration)

My wife reads to the younger kids out in Utah every day :)

No true for all the stats. Some are missing data.

No...that prize goes to:
#1       District of Columbia:      37  per 1000

New Hampshire data is not available but I assume it would be between Vermont 12 and Maine 9 per 1000

Your daughter and wife both sound cool to me !! I look forward to getting to meet your family and I'll admit I read to my little ones everyday but my oldest (11 yrs) only once in a while.  ;)

Also, according to these stats, the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah are soaring in growth, crime, and government intrusion.

Utah still holds out due to the large Mormon population, but the influx of movers is changing that. Close to 15% growth from 2000 - 2005 for the entire region (Nevada at 20%).

People talk so much about the open space and how there is so much room to grow out there. What they don't realize is that the majority of the land is BLM, National Park, Military, and State owned. So they're crowding all these movers into narrow strips along the highways with little infrastructure to support them. And land prices are insane.

I need to sell and get the rest of my family out here soon.
