Most of those outdoor cameras are designed to withstand vandalism, including small arms fire.  :-\

Got a reference for this?

I don't believe the first story, and the other cameras have weaknesses. Use cutters for the wires at the base, use actual guns, figure something out. It's WAY more important that they be removed sooner rather than later. Private business' cameras are one thing, but these Concord funded ones are a different story.

If somebody fired his AK-47 multiple times at one of those cameras, then it's most likely that he simply missed.

Just before I fled Minneapolis last year, they installed cameras at a number of intersections. I remember looking at the website of the manufacturer, whose name escapes me now, and noticing that they specifically advertise that the cameras are vandal and bullet proof.

I don't know what kind of cameras are by Murphy's, but more likely than not they are pretty sturdy things. No one is going to invest money in to something that is easily defeated.

I don't believe it's been established that these are in fact Concord-funded cameras.
I've seen the (then) NH DOT Director Sweeney testify in front of several committees that his bureaucracy placed absolutely no "red light" cameras anywhere in the state (with the exception of the cameras at toll booths)

If someone is really interested in these specific cameras, I suggest you call up the NH DOT and simply ask if they are NH DOT property:

Yes, the story doesn't say he hit the camera, only that he shot at it. I was only passing it along as the first thing in the google search.

And these might not even be cameras. Around here we have motion sensors mounted high up on the traffic signals. They look like cameras, but they're not. They detect when cars pull up, so the signal will change.

Indeed. I plan to have a look at whatever they are in the near future and discover exactly what they are.

Quoteis this a town run camera or a private run camera?  I know WMUR has a couple around the state.
Not sure.  I didn't see it on your WMUR link.

As to the vandal-proof-edness:  They look like typical surveillance cameras you would find in stores.  They look nothing like the bulletproof ones KB posted.  Plus, wires can be cut fairly easily.  It's getting 20 feet in the air on the town's main street without being detected that is the problem.  Perhaps a diversion is in order?

And, why would they point at a 45 degree angle?  I've really only payed attention to the one across from Murphy's.  And it's pointed basically at the parking lot of whatever is over there (used car lot?).  I was thinking of turning onto the street sideways and flipping the bird.  They wouldn't be able to see my plates that way.

... which leads me to believe it's a private surveillance camera

SHE'S A LIAR. There is one at the 101/114 intersection right where Dada often does sign waves... Geesh.
Its' pointed right at the place where the cars stop -- there is no business or building or pedestrian walkway there, so it has to be for the cars.

DO remember, that Murphy's now has a classy clientele who respect each other and are not violent.

But they USED to be the 'Omega' where lots of gunfights broke out in the past.

We have more guns there now.

Yes my dear, that was my whole point, implied but not spoken.

We have the occasional recovering socialist come through here, and they tend to need these things spelled out explicitly. :)

I think there are more of those than you know, and some are still not to the 'recovery' stage.

Two things:
1) No camera is completely vandal proof, as llyod suggested spray pay the lens! use duct tape to cover the lens, or tape a message about liberty in front of it so the watchers know we're watching them!
2) I've got some daisy powerline bb-guns and brand spanking new CO2 cartridges for them, if someone wanted to borrow them to help defend freedom.
