I live north of Laconia.  What kind of work are you looking for (high tech, trades, retail, food service)?  What are your skills?  The lakes region is very tourist dependent and, therefore, there are lots of jobs, but they tend to be on the lower end of the pay scale.

well i have my ca comercial license with all endorsments including hazmat except passenger and doubles/triples. and am a manger/shift leader for a pizza joint here in ca right now, was a lot porter for dealer and was in army for about yr cuz i got injured and they discharged me. i have good pc skills ect. but im not sure what that can get me and i need decent pay due to 1100 motnh worth of bills. erk ya i kinda screwed myself financially. but i can learn easy so i could do anything that doesnt require degrees, am willing to be trained. if its farming, landscape even but as long as i can pay my bills and maybe one day get a place to live besides my truck. if you could or want to let me know if anything over ther is hiring in your area that might allow me to pay my bills ide be much apreciated.

Check out The Citizen's employment ads (Laconia daily newspaper).  I don't know of any specific jobs, but it's always a good idea to check it out personally, too.  Can you swing a hammer?  Lots of building going on around here - in fact, they're 'importing' people from out of state (and out of country) to fill the need.

I've spent my whole adult life working in a tourist-fueled community.  While nobody gets rich here, it seems like even the entry-level people make a livable but modest wage.  Problem is, rents are expensive.

I visited Laconia during PorcFest. I hated it. Laconia, that is.

I personally don't like Laconia either.  It's a former mill town, so it has the feel of having seen better days...but, it IS on the lake so there's still a big tourist element, and there are some manufacturing companies in Laconia.  It's also next to Tilton, which has become a big shopping destination for central NH and out-of-state tourists looking for bargains in tax-free NH, which means there are retail jobs.  One positive about Laconia, it's the center of NH, so it's a short drive to the seacoast, to the mountains, and you're right on the lake.

Don't know what you mean about house versus rent.  It seems like there are a lot of rental options in Laconia, ranging from really low end to extremely high (waterfront).

If you're looking for a greater concentration of FSP peeps, then Laconia probably isn't the place.  But, if you want a small (emphasis on small) city in the middle of the state, then Laconia may be right for you.

Good luck.

im still thinking of hitting keene to and problably first since its easiest to hit when i get there.

Keene is nice.  If you get there before the college session starts you won't be competing with students for jobs or places to live.
You would probably find more employment opportunties in the Nashua, Manchester and Concord area.

well calling on jobs ect there, i created a list and found alt of jobs in keene, and nashua that are hiring so im going to start out in keene then go to nashua so forth. ppl were very nic even though i was inguiring about employment which makes me want to move mor lol. but liek usual i have to be there but they said when you get here pop on by apply and maybe well have the opening still and wished me luck. people in nh seem to be great people. makes california loook like hell so far. but il se when i get there. if there is anyoen in keene wanting to meet up ide be game.

Just let the Keene folks know when you are coming and those un-incarcerated will meet with you.

I surmise that "ca" is California.  You do realize that it is very cold in Laconia in the winter, do you not?  I moved out of New England and into the metro Washington, DC area a long time ago and wouldn't move back to New Hampshire on a bet.  And I had lived most of my life on the seacoast, where the snow melts a few weeks after it falls.  Laconia is like Minnesota.  If you want to know the cumulative winter snowfall to date, you just take a ruler out to your lawn and measure it.

Last I knew, Laconia was a cellular phone reception black hole.  Something about them not allowing a tower to be constructed in the best place for it.  A friend who lives there told me that during Motorcycle Weekend, or whatever they call it, one of the cellular companies actually installs a temporary tower to meet the short term cellular demand there.  Has that problem since been remedied?

Let me guess, they wanted to put an eyesore of a tower on top of one of the mountains?

And you're posting here why, exactly?

I moved to the Keene area from Florida just over a month ago, and I have landed two full-time jobs in Keene.
You can always get a job through a temp agency.  There are several in Keene, and they seem to always be hiring.
