I so miss the days when I could get silver eagles for less than $9.00 each.

Please let me know about the rounds.  I'm interested in either type of silver.

I'd like to purchase 50 of either type.  Would not mind the extra expense of the American Eagles.

OK, I just made a purchase. I've been watching several sites and really wanted to buy in the mid-11s one day last week. But no one had deals and/or product that day. Ampex had deals and good price points today on both 1 oz rounds and 1/2 oz. My check will need to clear, but I should get delivery in late September. Here is what I got:

250 1 oz generic rounds (all Engelhard) @ 12.38 each

100 1/2 oz generic rounds @ $6.43 each
$19.95 shipping & handling

For the folks who have chimed in on this thread, that would be $12.45 for each 1 oz., and $6.46 for each 1/2 oz.
If you want to wait for Eagles, AMPEX will occasionally offer an assortment of dates for a good price, but not recently. I will be out of the market for a while.

For the folks I know who frequent these boards, I will honor the same price, subject to keeping some for myself.

For the lurkers, make me an offer.  :D

Cool.  I'm good for 50 1-ouncers.    I can pay now or on delivery.

ETA:  If there are any 1/2 ounces unspoken for, I'd like to buy 10-20 of those.

Are you in NH? I'd like some.

Is toowm in NH? :P
I will introduce you to him on Sat!

What Dreepa said - I met you at the MVP and moving party last month.

Once I get these, I will lug them to porc events and ask for payment when you get the silver. Best bet may be the October MVP meeting.

OK, I picked up the coins today. APMEX delivered right on time, but they used "priority" mail from the post office, so it took 7 days + the mailman said M wasn't home when she was -- he just didn't want to lug ~20 pounds. The coins look good. Some have tarnish (they average about 20 years old) but many are quite bright. Since I ordered both 1 and 1/2 oz coins, I'd like a feel for your preferences. No problem if don't want 1/2 ounces, but I would like at least 50 1 oz and 20 1/2 oz for myself. Here's where things stand (and ideas on 1.0&0.5 splits):

Dreepa 10 - do you want just 1 ouncers?
mappchik 50 - do you want 40&20?
porcupinekate 50 - you wanted 1/2 ounces in addition - how about 20?
picaro 50&20
dalebert 50&20(?)
toowm - 50&20

That gets us to exactly the order. I know the 1/2 ouncers are kind of a bonus, so you may not want them. Let me know. For every 20 coins of each type, I will include a plastic tube.
I will have the coins in my car for various weekend/Tuesday functions. I might be able to swing Murphy's tonight, but maybe not. I will definitely be at the MVP meeting on 10/6.

LLoyd - if you do want 20, let me know and we'll work it out.

Looks like the order was just about right in size. And the timing was just about perfect - the coins sell for 13% more today. Congratulations!

I'll start another thread to get folks in on a future order. It may take several months, and we might want to wait for a price drop, although it looks like the dollar is headed nowhere fast.

Sounds like I'm too late on this one but I've just started to get interested in investing in silver and gold.  Can anyone point me in the right direction to start reading about some of the basics (lingo, pros/cons, etc.)?  I'll probably be interested next time someone is moving forward with an order.

toowm

Our order is "generic rounds" - .999 silver coins by various private mints or governments (some Mexican 1/2 ounces). So we are not collecting coins for their nuministic, or rarity value.

Turns out, I'm OK, but, thank you :D

I can do 5 oz and 10 1/2 oz  if that works out for you.

Let me know how much I owe you.  I should be at MVP.
