My mother didn't have a birth certificate until 1985, when she was 62. I don't just mean that she didn't have a copy, I mean no birth certificate existed for her. She was born at home, no doctor involved, in Oklahoma (literally a two-room cabin with a dirt floor).

Dad had become disabled in '84, and in order to draw her portion of his railroad retirement she had to file her BC with her paperwork. It was quite a process. The only way she was able to get it, was because one of her aunts was still alive to swear an affidavit as to where/when she was born.

Think of it: born, lived, graduated high school, married, work, had a driver's license, raised two children... but she didn't "exist".

In Arkansas, it is a felony to not "register a birth".

My son's birth certificate is in Russian - should make for an interesting time some 12 years from now.
That is gonna be fun!

We we brought our cat from Russian they wanted to make sure that the cat had 'papers'... hell I could have some them a newspaper and they wouldn't have known.

I hope it isn't here, because I'm going to have a lawyer or someone draw up a private cert for my kids. But then also, here the DMV didn't care or even look at it, but just wanted to see something official looking.

They don't have to look very hard at it. They verify everything online in EVVE.

That's one of the bad databases. Looks like only Iowa and South Dakota's DMVs are using it so far.

Quantrill

so how can you be sure they actually delete it?  go up there, have them pull your file and walk around the counter to look at the screen?
