yeah I saw this video.. on a link from some solar panels... I think it was in another thread.

There is a guy who runs a commune in Venice, CA that has a sign that says Free Hugs.

Recumbent ReCycler

I like that video.  It's nice.  I think I might feel slightly awkward carrying a sign like that, but feel free to assume that I always have free hugs for anyone who wants them.

Rosie the Riveter

I'm pretty free with my hugs too...

Pat K

I thought it was the Dave Mincin campaign video.

Kat Kanning

Maybe Dave will want to try the sign thing.

These people are often seen on the Boston Common.
At least, I saw them last time I was there.

I was at the 30th anniversary Star Wars convention watching the Robot Chicken panel. The guy asking the panel a question at the mike had a "Free Hugs" t-shirt and one of the creators of Robot Chicken (not Seth, the other one) jumped down and ran at the guy and lept up onto him, wrapping his arms and legs around him. It was riotously funny. Talk about spontaneous.

You ever start to hug someone and realize that they don't really wanna? That's embarrassing.

Yes, a bitter remnant of my infancy.  You see my birth mother couldn't keep me and the adoption bureaucrats of church and state used me as a football in a sadistic game of keepaway.  My birth mother had to give me up, but my adoptive parents couldn't have me, NO!  They had to fill out stacks of papers and hire a lawyer and answer to a judge and submit to the catholic inquisition.  Meanwhile tiny Lauren - or Aida - as she was known then, was so cute she was passed from nun to nun getting the dickens squeezed out of her day and night.
NO, leave me alone!
You are all so much bigger than me!  You'll crush me!

This story slightly exaggerated for nh underground audience.

I had a minor incident recently like that. I'm so used to hugging my friends as we're meeting and then again as we're leaving. I have to remember it's not necessarily the norm up here. I was like "Doh! Not appropriate." Oh well.
