Date: Thursday, Oct. 18
Location: Murphy's Taproom, 494 Elm St., Manchester NH 03101  :occasion14:
What: fundraiser for the LPNH, featuring comedian Doug Stanhope  :icon_pirat:
Time: 9:00PM
Price: $18;  tickets on sale online at http://www.lpnh.org/stanhope.php

Save the date!  On Thursday, Oct. 18, the hottest Libertarian comedian in the U.S. will be appearing at the hottest libertarian bar in ManchVegas for one night only, performing a benefit show on behalf of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire!   :o Yes, you read that right.  Doug Stanhope, former co-host of Comedy Central's The Man Show, host of "Girls Gone Wild", and featured on the Howard Stern Show, will be performing at Murphy's Taproom on behalf of the LPNH. Doug has released three CDs and two DVDs including the latest, "Deadbeat Hero" in 2004.  His CD's, DVD's and T-shirts are available for sale on his website at http://www.dougstanhope.com. Doug describes his comedy as "vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited and is certainly not for everybody".  Consider yourself warned!  ;) And don't miss this opportunity to see someone named as one of the Top Ten Comics To Watch by both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter in 2002 exercising his First Amendment rights as only he knows how... and help support the LPNH while you do it!  Check http://www.lpnh.org for up-to-the-minute details and info on how to purchase tickets.

Since he abandoned his run for the LP nomination, maybe he'll endorse Ron Paul.  8)

I'm pretty sure he has on the Doug Stanhope for President myspace page.

apparently he couldn't get paid for his comedy shows and mention his run for president at the same time (IE, he couldn't make a living while running for President)

Puke

Thursday seems like an odd day to do this.
I might have to take Friday off though.

Thursday is the day that a nationally known comedian currently on tour was available to do a benefit fundraiser.   ::)

I wasn't too familiar with Stanhope other than knowing he was a LP candidate. When I read he was a comedian, I went and looked him up on YouTube. The first video that came up was of him talking rather obnoxiously about getting his wife an abortion. I was rather put off by it, and I'm not particularly thrilled at the thought of this guy being seen as a public face of libertarianism in general, much less being associated with Ron Paul.

If I am not traveling for work (about a 50% that week) I will be there.

KB +1 for that comment!
