Why do you keep talking to a "friend" who wants to see you dead?

I actually had a conversation with a friend who is a Socialist where I am, when I asserted that Socialism is an evil doctrine.

He was surprised, and asked me to defend my statement.

Rather than explaining about negative rights, or economic efficiency, or free will, I just said "I say your philosophy is evil because it requires that I, and people like me be killed or tortured into submission".

He actually votes Libertarian now, with the stated intention of building a commune as soon as he is free enough to do so.

A commune is just a voluntary arrangement of collective ownership.

Marx was just wrong about the nature of "surplus value". He ascribed it to the nature of private ownership of the means of production when in reality it is just confusion over the what the nature of profit is. Profit is confusion over what economic interest is (return on capital) and what economic rent is (return on land) and the way that privilege leads to these confusions.

Mutualism (free market, anti-capitalism) understands this confusion and points to a way out of the mess without coercion where labor get it's just reward to the full product of their efforts.
