Honestly, I think that first actor (I use the term loosely) would be better described as str8 for marketing rather than gay for pay. It probably helps his image to be perceived as str8. I wonder if he really has a fiance and 3 and a half kids. He probably doesn't expect anyone to actually investigate that. I noticed he made a point of dropping his stage name, which I of course immediately did a search on.  I'm sure LOTS of other curious gay guys did exactly the same and it helps his movies and his branding. Porn stars develop reps just like any other celebrity and it helps raise their value on the market. You have to be a big name to make money on porn, even in the gay porn industry, even though it's true that gay porn pays better than str8 porn for guys. Most porn stars use the porn to increase their desirability for things like private dancing gigs and prostitution.

If you're wondering how I know all of this, it's because I helped a film-maker with his work on a documentary about men in the sex industry. I helped with the technical side (lighting, camera work, etc.) when he was interviewing people and some of it I just learned at dinner table conversations with him and such. For what it's worth, he's mostly working on less racy films but he was looking for a money-maker and he learned over the grapevine how much sex sells.
