Daleberts posts just keep getting better.

And now that I've met Dale, just picturing him saying it is even better.  ;)

""Overall, multiple officers increase the chance of injury to a subject or to other officers. Weapons like Tasers bring rapid compliancy with greatly reduced risk to the injury of the subject," he said.

ISU campus police are currently allowed to carry both chemical spray and expandable batons, in addition to Tasers."

Seems like there are differing opinions out there about the "reduced risk" of injury to the subject.

It would appear that the UF cops need to study this page:

... or ...

I wonder if the Taser makes these officers feel like they can skate by on their level of physical strength and fitness.

Hmmm. Yes.  The consumption of donuts can produce a lack of agility which a taser can make up for!

LOL! Is this like the Rudy clone screaming 'Don't touch me!' when I started telling him about Rudy being up to his neck in the NAU/SPP?  ::)

Okay, I had to chuckle, although quietly.

There is no question that he is a complete attention slut. Last time I checked, being a loudmouth jerk taking up 2 minutes of public Q&A time (versus the allotted 30 seconds) wasn't grounds for arrest.

It is legitimate grounds for physical removal from the public forum though inorder to protect the free speech rights of others.

all of that looks painful

Indeed it can be quite painful, because, as I said, that's what cops are trained to do - use pain and the threat of pain to force people to comply with their demands.

It's not the tools and techniques of inflicting that pain that needs focus, it's the training that goes into the decision to make a certain demand that needs focus.

Any cop on the street should be an expert in articulable suspicion, probable cause, Terry v. Ohio, and all the other statutory and judicial parameters of their job, regardless of whether they're carrying a baton, Taser, pepper spray, or a whistle, so that they don't make unlawful demands, or cooperate with unlawful demands from Feds.
