If I Were Governor.

If I were the Governor of New Hampshire, I would change the power structure of the state.
Here, we are supposed to live free or die.
While those words may have been true at one time, they are not true today.
We, the people of New Hampshire, are not living free because state government is on the side of self interest, power, and rule.
Any one of us can be viewed as a threat to New Hampshire or the United States by just speaking out against government authority.
Any person can be held because they look "suspicious" or illegal in some way even if there is no proof that the person has done, or is doing anything wrong.
You can even be followed by police for having a Greatful Dead bumper sticker on your car.
Police have said that statistics show that those who have Greatful Dead items on their vehicles have a greater chance of having drugs.
I once owned an IROC Z28, which is a car that is capable of going very fast.
I was followed by police on a steady basis when I drove it, even though I never had it over 60, and kept it under the speed limit.
Maybe their statistics say that fast cars are owned by fast drivers.
In my case, those stats would be wrong.
Your property can still be seized by eminent domain, and land can be taxed in ways that were never thought of before.
The view tax is a tax that is put on property because of the view that is beyond the boundaries of that property.
In other words, if you have a small piece of land that sits on a hill overlooking a "beautiful"  countryside, you can be taxed for that view.
I spoke with a person who owns a farm, and she told me the view tax may cause her to lose her land and business because the tax has gravely hurt her finances.
If I were Governor, I would end the view tax the very minute I took office.
In fact, I will end it before my inaugural address.
I just can't wait to do it!
It is a sham tax.
It only hurts people, and government benefits because the view outside your house means more money for the government and less for you.
That is nonsense.
That will stop.
When I think of taxes, I also think of the case involving the Browns.
If Ed and Elaine Brown say they are right, and ask to be shown the law, then show them the law.
If the government and the courts can't prove their case against the Browns in a clear and rightful way that is based on the Constitution of the United States, then the Browns must be left alone.
I personally can prove the Browns are right, but I have no chance against the government with my case.
As Governor, that would be a very different story.
Also, I would like to know how much it is costing for surveillance of the Browns versus what the Browns "owe" the government.
All leaders must base their thinking and laws on the Constitution, and not on what they think is right.
New Hampshire and the United States must be on the side of the people.
The government of this country must be run according to the will of the people.
We vote because we want things done in certain ways.
We do not vote to have our leaders tax us out of business, or to be looked at as statistics like the Greatful Dead fans, or to have our property taken by those who say they want it for better use.
Such actions belong in the old Soviet Union, and not here.
I am amazed at how our leaders in Washington, Concord, and everywhere else can sleep at night when they waste massive amounts of money on travel and lavish parties while there are so many poor people going without.
If I were Governor, all the food I eat would come out of my own pocket.
Why should I eat fancy meals at your expense?
All travel would be based on need.
If I were Governor, I would make many of my decisions after talking to the people.
Let everyone have a say.
I want to listen, and ask the people what they need, and what changes they think are needed.
After all, the people know more about their lives than I do.
I do not have all the answers and will not pretend to have all the answers.
I may not have most or even any answers.
But together, what a mind that would be.
That is why the people must have the power, and not the government.
Too many people have forgotten the words ... "We the people", and that must change.
Now I never wanted to be a governor.
I love advertising and acting.
In fact, I want to try Hollywood one day.
But that is another story.
This story is about being sick of the way things are, and a big desire to change things for the better.
I have seen too much.
And I am mad enough to step right up and say enough.
This is not about me.
This is about us.
This is about the people and doing what is right.
This is about one term and moving on.
Hey, I never wanted the job.
But it has to be done.
There is a lot of work ahead.
There are some things that have to be changed.
Yes, some things will stay the same.
I will not change things for the sake of change.
The changes I make will give the people their lives back.
But I can only make those changes if I were governor.
John F. Kennedy was right when he said that a revolution is coming.
I can feel it.
Can you?
I am not announcing my candidacy for Governor of New Hampshire, but rather I am writing about what I would do IF I were Governor.
I am,

I thought the 'view tax' was just figurative, alluding to the fact that a nice view raises property value, thus raising property tax.

You'd have to be the dictator, since the governor doesn't have the power or authority to reorganize state government.

No, I would not be able to change state government the way I want.
I just want the people to have a say when it comes to state matters.
After all, government is by the people, and for the people.
Well, at least that is the way it should be.
That is what I mean when I talk about changing the power structure of the state.
It belongs to the people.

George.

People do have a say - but unfortunately not enough say the right things......they vote in idiots who believe bigger and more gov't is better.

The Browns have been arrested.
If I were Governor of New Hampshire, I would do everything in my power to free them.
Show them the law!
Or they must be free!

I don't think people realize just how much power a governor has. There is no higher authority in a state (unless you believe in the people.) The only influence the Fed has over you is that of offering you money for your submission and contracts that the state has previously agreed to.

I don't like to hypothesize but if I were governor I would work on the education system first and foremost. I would do everything in my power to eliminate all federal support for the entire states school systems. Once you eliminate the need for federal funding you can teach REAL history. It all starts and ends with the mind.

If the people knew that a governor was almost the same as a king they never would elect clowns like Schwarzenegger.

I don't know how to say without seaming shallow... RATTYDOG FOR GOVERNOR!
