I always wonder why when someone goes over the edge they don't take out the people they feel harmed them?
Perhaps I'm just a violent minded person.  :-\

And people wonder why the feds are worried about the Browns' supporters.

It doesn't mean that I have acted on it; or will. I just have bizarre thoughts when I read such news stories.

Meep... Near me as well..  :-\

I do have a suicide by cop mentality on things like this, but I also have a great amount of self-preservation so people don't need to fear me settling vendettas with Berettas'.

Interesting, though. Most of us are opposed to zoning laws, and that's what he was requesting. How does that play in, or does it, IYO?

Have you ever heard of Carl Drega?

Puke

I have not heard of this guy.
I don't condone such actions, but I can understand how a human can be pushed over the edge and just start going nuts.

Jesus, did you read the comments.  :-\

I did...and had to add my 2 cents there

'Governments, even small municipal councils, have generally been overrun by grossly inadequate collectivists with deep pockets and serious control issues. Combine this with an overabundance of Prozac and other "feel-good" drugs and you have a numbed-down, dumbed-down, bureaucratic dinosaur that has no concept of liberty or justice. They will run rough-shod over your dreams and your lives because it doesn't fit in to their "vision" of a perfect society. Zoning Boards and City Planners are the new Communists of this day and age. They decide where you live, where you work, how you build, etc.  If you find their behavior disturbing and outrageous, do yourself a favor: Run for office. This is still America and you can still make a difference. Find others who share this belief and organize. The Free State Project is a good template for "getting started"'

They don't know that, and can't know that, so like I said, no wonder they're worried.

They know that violence begets violence, and deep down they understand that governments are the biggest perpetrators of violence on the planet.

This businessman's tale is a sad one, but the article doesn't contain enough information for us to pass judgment on the council's action.

I oppose government zoning, but I support the right of neighbors to make contracts with one another, in the form of deed restrictions, to restrict the use of one another's properties for their mutual benefit.  Unfortunately, government has imposed a virtual monopoly on land use control.  If I wanted to make an agreement with my neighbors to restrict commercial development on our respective properties, why would I do so if the government has already enacted such restrictions in the form of zoning?

I bought my home with the full knowledge that my property and those around it were zoned exclusively for residential use.  If my neighbor one day decided to open up a barber shop in his house, which would bring new traffic and parking woes to the neighborhood, I'd urge the ZBA to oppose it.  Why?  My neighbor has rights, but so do I.  Among my property rights are those land use restrictions on my neighbors.  Zoning is a poor substitute for deed restrictions, but its what we've got, and I will use it to protect my own property rights.

For all we know, this man's expanded barber shop may have added significantly to the traffic and parking situation in the neighborhood.  His higher property value would have likely come at the expense of his residential neighbors, whose property values may have fallen, and the peaceful enjoyment of their property would have also been impacted.

Are they worried, or do they just think we are all criminals? Who is "they" any way? The gov't?

Regardless, if the goons think I am a threat because I made a comment about a news story, then it's pretty clear who the bad guys are in my opinion.

And people wonder why the feds are worried about the Browns' supporters.
The Browns' supporters weren't there. The two are unrelated. You cannot suggest that the feds' irrational connection between any actions by anybody other than the Browns' supporters and the Browns's supporters is justified. The moment you pave the way for this cross-contamination of unrelated cause and effect, ALL of our liberties are blinked out. Because it's a uni-directional process. That's how we got to this point in the first place. When was the last time you heard any representative say, "Well, today 60,000+ law abiding gun owners didn't hurt anybody. Same as the day before. It's time we blinked out all the unConstitutional gun laws"? But they say, "Tragic shooting, clamp down harder," each time. Do you say, "VTech? Well no wonder they're increasing gun control," or do you say, "Um, excuse me. I didn't hurt anybody. I'll thank you kindly to stop punishing me as if I did"?

We must be careful. Domination begins in the mind with perception and deception. Don't let them trick you into thinking like them or talking like them. Since you mentioned the Browns' supporters, you have feds with no jurisdiction, but bucketloads of force systematically descending upon a group of people that did nothing but visibly support dissidence incarnate. Place the guilt with the guilty and make no excuse for their traitorous behavior.

Really, people should be able to write what they wonder or think about, damn what is this world coming to?  I'm not even "trained" as an agent and I'm able to tell if someone is just talking about something or if they are threatening to do it.
