My husband has his visa interview!

Usually I don't make topics regarding this, but since my husband called me 8 minutes ago in a panic (it's 2:48am) I figured I'd share the good news: Our visa interview is on Monday, Oct 22!

Now the bad news (and the reason he was in a panic!): his medical appointment is on Thursday, and the lab typically takes a week to send back results. We weren't expecting to get an interview so soon...the paperwork they sent us (granted, really really old paperwork dated 2003) said that once we send back Packet 3, our interview would be at minimum 1 month. So we freaked out and sent it back ASAP. But it turns out that that's not the case...So now my husband is panicking. I've got to go around and find out what happens if your lab results haven't been received by the embassy yet by the time you have your interview.
In anycase, wish us luck! There could be another mover soon!

Did Lasse sign up as an FSP member? Hope he gets to move the counter soon!

Rochelle

Yes, he did...he signed up before I did and that's how we met :P

Lasse

I should sneak in an application and hope they stamp both thinking it's the same guy. 8)

Anyways, good luck. At least someone is living the dream. ;)

Rochelle

Well, one person of Swedish ancestry is the same as another right :P?

But, no offense, I would rather have my Lasse :)

I actually don't have Swedish ancestry, I have part Norwegian part Finnish. The name is Swedish, though.

Rochelle

...but you live in Sweden? Geez, you must be very confused.
My husband's mixed Finnish and Swedish. You should see how Finn's lips curl when I tell them that :P

Alright, he emailed the embassy in Helsinki and they appear to be very flexible and have asked him to contact them with some dates that would be after his medical....so we'll see when his interview really takes place. But he'll be here soon!

Congratulations, Rochelle!! I'll bet you are so happy!

No, I live in Norway. I'm only 1/16 or so Finnish though, not sure on the genealogy aspects of it.

So you're married but he's not in the U.S. - did he have to get a job over there or is it enough to prove that he is married to an American?

Rochelle

Damn, I guess I confused you with Liam and thought you both lived in Sweden. Sorry. So, what about them Fjords?

Er....what? I'm confused about what you mean by this. Did he get a job where? In the US or Finland? In any case, he doesn't have a job anywhere. We got a spouse visa.

Well, yes and no. I'm happy that we're almost done with this, but very unhappy that he's not planning on immigrating until waaay after he gets his visa. Like late November :( Siiiiiigh.

The fjords are nice, actually everything that has to do with land and geography is great in this country, it's beautiful. It's too bad the people hate each other and vote for those who will steal from everyone every election.

Regarding the visa question I was being selfish and asking a question I was wondering about, because from some other info I got it appeared being married to an American was not 'enough', you had to have both an American job and be married to an American. It's great to hear that this was hogwash. ;)

Ooh, well it's not enough to just be married to an American, you have to prove you're married and fill out a lot of paperwork. This interview was 9 months in coming...hmm...kind of like having a kid  ;)
