Trevor Lyman, the man behind Ron Paul's record-breaking Nov 5th "money bomb" moved last week to Manchester, NH, from Miami, FL. He is the 500th activist who has moved to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project.

Going to be a tough first winter in NH, what with the recession. Hope we brought enough minstrels.

Considering how broken the counter has always been, how is the FSP sure he's exactly the 500th mover?

there is no 100% way sure.. because I can think of at least 5 people who moved and didn't change their status.

He is the 500th person that has joined the FSP and changed his address to be NH.

I'm pretty sure they used the same system that counted Boston T. Party as the 5,000th participant. ;)

There is a discussion about these sort of shenanigans going on over at the NH Tea Party forum at the moment. In my opinion, it's much ado about nothing, but some people see manipulating the numbers like this as less than honest.

I wonder who was the replacement #5000
Sometime soon we will have #10,000 :)

I still think we should just update it for them.  But I don't know all the ins and outs of it.

How exactly are you going to do that?  That makes no sense.
Privacy matters overrule any desire for accurate counting.

Somedays, I think Adam or myself should just have hit the metaphorical big red button and put the counter at 20K by hand.  But we didn't, because we're honest.  So is everyone currently in FSP-IT with access to the counter and the data behind it.

The counter, BTW, has not been 'automatic' since the website revamp due to unsupportable java code was driving the entire system... The nifty 'counter' on the site was manually _updated_ by hand, based on the official _automatic_ count which was still java-based (and was still always on the site, just on the stats page). We eventually replaced that whole signup mess, thanks to IT folks like Louis, and once the new signup code was finalized, and bad data corrected (such as incorrect states for a few people), the counter was automated, _subject_ to Brian's validation of an individual's signup info (so no spammers can flood the system, for example)

Did that thread get deleted?  I can't find it again.

It was.  I suspect Error deleted it, since after I replied, Arc insisted that he didn't care about the facts, he just wanted nothing to do with 'that 501c3' (nevermind that the FSP isn't one anyway), and that was likely the last straw for Error, who had already called him on the thread a few times.
