"This is the first one that's been shot," Capt. Gordon Catlett said of the wounded camera .

Bet it's not the last one.

The camera belonged to the government, and the man was arrested by police.

Ooops, time to delete this political thread!

This isn't political, this is definitely civil disobedience.  ;)

Here in CO they have these cameras (not only at intersections) but also mounted on the interstates and thuways. ..

so much for them being used for traffic control huh?

say cheese...click!

I have noticed on one the posts (away from the camera) is a small antenna. This must be the broadcast transmission mechinism. Instead of destroying the cameras it would be easier to just knock out the antenna. That would take care of all 4 cameras of an intersection.

Bink!

This happened a couple years ago, but well-worth revisiting  ^-^

Driver threw speed camera off cliff

A Swiss driver flashed by a speed camera attacked it with a pick axe, ran it over with his car and threw it off a cliff.

The motorist used the pick axe to smash the camera free from its mountings, then drove what was left up a mountain to throw it off a cliff.

He was doing nearly 50mph in a 30mph zone through the Swiss village of La Punt Chamues-ch in the Alps when he was flashed by the camera.

The film and camera were destroyed, but he was spotted by police as he threw the device off the cliff and arrested.

He faces a fine of up to £13,000 for destruction of public property.

A few years ago when the first few popped up in my hometown I called the chief o' politics and was told that there's no way they could be used for surveillance because they were fixed focus. Is there any way to really tell when you look at them whether they are fixed focus or not?

Nothing civil about it IMO; more like plain idiocy.

Firearm users like that are poster boys for gun control.  :BangHead:
