I don't understand the point of having a currency where you can just print more.

That is only because you don't benefit from that system. People with hired guns see the point in it. They profit nicely from it.

Currency is to be used as an exchange medium... not a hoard of wealth.
But for the most part money creation is not by some physical means such as minting or printing...
It credit expansion which is completely natural even under a free banking system.
The only time it becomes unnatural is when reserve restrictions are placed upon it.

I have tabled the idea of the paper currency.  With silver, copper and gold pieces in small weights I just don't see the need for this.  I may revisit it but I would need to see a role in the market first.
