Once I'm up and free of the boat anchor corporate job (w/company car), I'll be joining this group. I plan to surrender the State's ID back to the state. I'll also be creating or hopefully working with others to create a voluntary ID/driving certification card that beats the pants off the lousy government's ID. Count me in.

that is what some people don't quite get .... for some people, like Sam ... choosing to join us in NH is a big change of lifestyle. I would not have moved across the country unless I wanted to be part of a revolution. This is big ... and this movement is real. :)

I would be much more up for this idea if my GF didn't live in MA. I drive there often and won't be able to get the support if I'm arrested there. :(

Russell Kanning

our support here is mostly moral ... we haven't been able to keep each other out of jail

Do you think David would have gotten off with a "suspended fine" if he wasn't part of our group? Do you think the bailiff would have acted half as friendly toward Ian and Menno on Monday if there weren't 10 people and a camera on their side? Do they keep lowering your violations simply because you won't pay, or because you won't pay and you have this support? Why didn't anyone arrest Kat when they threatened to? Why haven't police officers ticketed Ian as he sits across a table from them and admits to breaking NH car registration laws? I think the support is keeping people out of jail to some extent. Hopefully we will see that more convincingly in the future.

Great points.  We don't have a point of reference to say "we are getting arrested less".  I think you're right.  They know they can't victimize us like the "citizen-subjects".

you may be right ... having supporters ... especially at the scene helps many situations ... some of it is just refusing to play the game and it works :)
they are more likely to go easier on me with every bit of support

Perhaps one day you will reach the point I have where being truly free is more important than my circumstances. I'm really seeing what I get to do as starting over, and will require giveing up most of the comforts of society like a bank account, and all of the other services the government demands I have it's papers in order to do. I'll get to go out in the marketplace and request or create the replacements myself. They may not be the greatest at first, but I will be free, the services will only improve, my quality of life will continue to improve, and that liberty will one day catch on, especially as the existing government begins to fail. I'm not planning a long stint at Walden pond or anything, this is going to be right out in public for all to see. I plan to document how negatively it affects my life by giving up government numbers.

The further along, the more complex the network of products and services we create for one another, the better off we will be.

To that end, Mark sent this link:

The founder seems a little eccentric, and I haven't done much digging, but it seems like a good idea.  Basically commercial activism.  I know Ridley expressed similar entrepreneurial ideas a while back.

I so *want* to be a customer of market alternatives to government and wish some entrepreneurs would offer me a product/service I can buy!

I like the idea, and I think the specific implementation is a bit lacking. It appears to be a paper tiger, without any real cases or examples backing it up. The kind of thing the court would just roll right over. Look at what they are doing with me. I don't think the magic words will somehow give me the reins of an out of control corrupt court system. I think it would be worth taking a look at some point, but I'm leaving it for someone else to do. I have enough on my plate at the moment.

Menno's talking to some guy who might be able to give driving lessons (he's some sort of expert driver).  Was talking about doing this.

I am rereading the "new libertarian manifesto" that Sam sent me in jail ... and this is the exact thing he was talking about ... agorism
some people will go about their lives ... trying to avoid the government thugs ... and others will be more active to speed up the process.

the grey and black markets will keep growing unless the government backs down .... and then the white market will be more free :)

David

Ethan Allen used to talk about agorism.  But,...you had him on ignore.   ;)  He actually introduced it to me.  I am a big fan of the idea.
