Both the "left" and the "right" have their Luddite sides, sometimes. For the liberals, it's hte Greenies, who want everyone to roll back to a "simpler" time when mankind didn't pollute. For the "conservatives" it's back to the days of sparsely populated, rural living.

I say no thanks to both. I like nightlife and technology, convenience. I LIKE the fact that I can go down the block to get milk - and naan and sushi and organic brussels sprouts - if I want.

I think sometimes people confuse cause and effect.

The world wasn't better when dirt roads were around. Dirt roads were around when PEOPLE, with needs, handled the roads. It's not the paved part that corrupted the situation, it's the GOVERNMENT part that did.

People rolled out government and got used to stealing from his neighbor, rather than respecting him. Since they stole from their neighbors, they feared those people having guns, and so demanded than they not keep them.

Get rid of the government. Maybe then communities might get back to the values they had back then without having to resort to the world as it was.

I've very much like friendly neighbors, supermarkets that carry foods from all over the world grown in various different way. Get the govenrment out of it and I'll be able to do that three block drive in an environmentally responsible vehicle that doesn't have to stir up a dustcloud while I'm at it. :)

I'd love to know when that was... :)

I like rural living and I like small city/large town living. Wicked capitalism has made it so that I can have my cake and eat it too. And no that cake isn't organic. :P

Also back when people thought smoked "for their health"... a LOT less people died from lung cancer.

I love that when people automatically think that because I'm in favor of capitalism and the free market, that I hate the woods and all of nature.  Much to their chagrin when I say I'd love to own some portion of the woods.

Lloyd Danforth

A good Capitalist will turn those woods into furniture and parking! ;D
