Good quote to use against pro-gov't schoolers
« on: November 07, 2008, 02:09 PM NHFT »

"If public schooling has produced a nation of adults who lack the competence to guide their children’s education, why do we want to continue a system that is likely to produce the same result?"

Jacob Hornberger, founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation, publisher of the book 'Separating School & State: How to Liberate America’s Families' by Sheldon Richman

It has to fail at education in order to survive. Reminds me of the way they tax gas in Europe to subsidize the rails. To the extent that it succeeds, it loses funding. It's completely backwards from normal market indicators of supply and demand. I guess they're planning to eventually have like five uber-wealthy Schnergenbergers who are the only people on the road and paying $2,000,000 tax on a gallon of gas.  ::)

Don't look at the US uses of gasoline taxes... not much better.

On the subject... does anyone really believe that we've produced a nation of adults lacking the competence to guide their children's education?
I can understand the historical context on collective resources... but with modern technology the collective resources are more easily decentralized. Its actually getting more costly to centralize the function and in the long run leading to education restrictions.

I could have used this the other day with a certain Nashua school teacher I had a run-in with.
