The Police station "Won't comment until they've conducted an investigation."
The council woman who witnessed it also wants an investigation.
::)

That guy is going to get a desk job for a couple weeks and then back to abusing his power.
How many hundreds of time has that pig acted that way without camera evidence?

How sad that most peaceful protests end in the cops inciting violence. Fucking pigs.  >:(

The evidence is mounting that Tom on Free Talk Live really does have the right idea . . .

I will say at least CBS2 is going to fight the "Disorderly Conduct" charge.

The cops appear to be on a real power trip lately. I know not all cops are bad but not all mafia members are bad either, that does not stop people from lumping the few good in with the vast bad ones.

Every time this issue arises, somebody has to anticipate the first hysterical critique (and it's as certain as tomorrow's sunrise) and pipe up with that lame addition.  Know what?  I think it's safe to say that the cops who are not corrupt themselves at least know of the corruption of the vast majority of the others, and do nothing.  Whether out of a misplaced sense of camaraderie or the very real fear of reprisal is irrelevant--by not acting, they're guilty of collusion.  Therefore, all cops are bad.  QED.
Now--who's got a good idea for changing the situation?

Freedom of the press, eh?  As long as it doesn't video tape police being bad I guess?

I've been tired of the "but not all cops are bad" caveat folk love to add, for years.

I find it a great line. . . "but not all cops are bad . . . "  I use it all the time

I'll tell someone about this story for instance, and go off for a half hour about the audacity of the cop. . . the brutality of his methods. . .and the anger in his voice. . . and I'll end it with . . "..but not ALL cops are bad"

Puke

It appears the guy was a security guard, not an actual cop.

I saw no evidence that he was a security guard.  Everything in that video says cop.

the cruiser
the vest
the uniform
the reporters
the council woman

QuoteOn Monday, after Newark Mayor Cory Booker said he was "disgusted" and "disturbed" by the video, Shariff was suspended without pay.

But Booker also claimed that Shariff was a "special police officer", which somehow is different than just a police officer.

Booker said that special police officers, such as Shariff, receive training from the city and often work at churches and local businesses. Their uniforms are similar to those of regular police officers, but they are not police officers.

If they are not police officers, then why the hell is Shariff wearing a yellow vest that clearly states "Newark Police"? And why the hell does Shariff have the power to arrest citizens?

There you go. He's not a "real" cop. But seems to be part of the city bureaucracy all the same.
