It's gonna get chilly

This is about as bad as it gets folks. I don't think I've seen anything like it since 1994. Sure its been very cold at times over the past 14 years, but the total area impacted by this cold wave will be huge. By next Thursday and Friday, extremely cold air will chill the entire area from the Great Plains to the Eastern Seaboard, and the cold is also going to reach the Deep South. Only the far West will be unscathed.

From the central Plains to the Northeast temperatures are going below zero; there is no question about it. Meanwhile, the Upper Midwest and northern New England could experience readings lower than 30 below zero!

One might have to go back to Jan. 1994 to find anything worse. In that bitter outbreak, temperatures went below zero from the central Plains to the East Coast. In New York there is a chance it will go below zero next Thursday or Friday night. The last time New York City experienced a below-zero temperature was Jan. 1994.

Did I mention there could be a snowstorm to boot? Yes, that very well could happen. Low pressure riding the leading edge of the bitter blast could put down a significant amount of snow starting in the Midwest Tuesday then reaching the East on Wednesday.

Fluff and Stuff

The only day predicted to be really cold is 1-15 and that is so far in the future I'm not 100% if that will happen.

The header on the cover of the 2009 Farmer's Almanac says "cold, snow, hurricanes blow - global cooling?"

Darn it!   I've got a bad toothache and everytime I have a dentists appt. the weather is bad and I have to cancel.

My dentist is in Gorham so I was thinking of just going there Monday and sleeping over for my Tues. appointment but now I don't know because it looks like it's going to snow from here, (Campton), to Gorham; maybe Wednesday too.  I suck at driving in the snow, I get too nervous.

My daughter is due this Thursday too and I don't want to take the chance of getting stuck somewhere.   Oh well, I wish I had tooth problems in the spring, summer or fall.  :P

Well, here it comes, lets see
Thursday night in Keene is
predicted to be -15.

I guess reality is a bitch.

It's ok, even us bumpkins have this incredible cloaking device...

I put wood into this steel box and it cloaks us from the undesirable effects of excess cold. ;D

Yeah I wasn't worried for you.
I know Becky is around to keep things running.  ;D

She will remind you to light the wood you
put in the steel box on fire so it heats the house. ;D

Yeah!  It's nice to have a Chic around who can start a fire. Provided they don't do it by staring at it from across the room.

I really doubt that. It doesn't seem that cold here.
