Former state lawmaker faces simple assault charge

HUDSON – A former state representative, known for making inflammatory remarks about police, was arrested this week and charged with assault for allegedly grabbing an 11-year-old girl, leaving several marks on her arm.

Shortly after his election in 2000, Tom Alciere gave up his legislative seat after he was accused of making statements advocating violence against police officers.

Alciere, who is now 49, of 28 Mobile Drive, was arrested on a warrant for misdemeanor simple assault by the Hudson Police on Tuesday. He was arraigned in Nashua District Court the same day and was released on $5,000 bail.

The alleged incident took place on March 26. Court papers say Alciere grabbed the girl's arm while she was playing basketball with Alciere's son.
