Ivy calls Porc 411 to report on her meeting with Sam.
Sam is weak, on a hunger strike, and being treated "fairly well".
so she talked with him?
I guess I was underestimating his dislike for the boiled eggs and white bread ;)
Will he really go without food until they give in?

I think that it is very possible the government will give in before our Sam I Am does.

I agree! :)

We'll have to change his name to "Sam I Was"  :'(

No, when the cops get a chance to observe him, they'll be changing their names to "Fuzz I Was" . . .

Sam has asked that you focus your calls on NH senator Molly Kelly and politely ask her these questions:

Do you know there are district courts writing their own rules?

Do you know many of these rules are unconstitutional and against several supreme court rulings?

Did you know that Keene District Court is arresting political prisoners?

You may remember Sam. You have me him a few times. He is one of these political prisoners currently incarcerated.
Do you support the taking of these political prisoners?

Molly's office number is 603-271-4153 and her home number is 603-357-5118.

Ivy reports that Sam may have a release hearing on Monday. Stay up to date on the

I visited Sam this evening.
That is one special young man.  I've never met him before, although I did hear him a handful of times on Free Talk Live.  He has the look of a man secure in his convictions and sure of his path.  I commend him.
From what little I know, it sounds like he has a devastating case to try.  If he ever gets his day in court, I believe there will be hell to pay for the state and many of its individual bureaucrats.  For that reason, I am a bit uneasy about guessing to what lenghts the powers that be might go in order to prevent that day from coming.
I was only able to talk to Sam for about five minutes, and I was not too sharp about it, I'm afraid.  I've never been to a jail before, never sat at the booth and talked to someone on the phone through the glass, only seen it on tv.  It was a bit overwhelming, so I didn't really have my wits about me to ask intelligent questions.  Mostly just Are you okay, and Rah rah go Sam.
It was a dark and lonely drive back home from the jail, and I had some time to process (bad word choice?) all that I had just experienced and start forming some thoughts about it.  The overarching impression I came away with was this: what is Sam doing, except exercising his rights?  That's all he's doing, is asserting his natural sovereignty as an individual.  And it occurred to me that we already have all that we need in order to overcome oppression.  It's inspired me to flex my liberty more.  There is a lot to be said for flying low and staying off the radar -- it's what's worked for me -- but as I have observed things like more cops out in more places writing more citations to more drivers to try and make up for municipal budget shortfalls, I'm seeing more and more value in open civil disobedience.

It was an unusual convergence of circumstances that allowed me to get out and visit Sam tonight.  I don't often get to step out of my work/family/sleep rotation.  I will visit him again if I get the opportunity.  But hopefully he'll be out of jail soon and that won't be necessary.

There's just one thing I don't understand in all this: why the hunger strike?
Won't be long before the lack of nutrition starts undermining his cognitive abilities.

Sam has said the Hunger Strike is because it's one of the only choices he is still free to make.  I can't blame him.

Ogre

I can't speak for Sam, but I can tell you I've made the same decision for when my time comes to be jailed. Why? I guess its a combination of things -- noncooperation, letting the thugs see what they're doing, not taking from the public trough, and perhaps forcing their hand some.

Sam also expressed a very heart felt thanks for all the letters he's recieved (aproximately 80% coming from Mail-to-Jail.com) and how much they have meant to him.
