I feel safer already.

I was amused that this vehicle wouldnt have helped at all in the example they gave for why they need it.

  Ya, I know.
Look what the russians did with grease and "stuff", on the treads.
The cops can't use that thing, they'd not have any room for doughnuts.

M113 are not a threat. Let's put it this way they look worse than they are. If a confrontation were imminent $10 worth of commonly available hardware will disable one. Not that I am advocating anything.

From the article...
"The vehicle is still sporting its Army camouflage paint job, which will be painted over with a more neutral black, and it will require some work before it is ready to hit the streets.

Once it is, members of the special reaction team can start training with it and devising scenarios for when it would be useful, said Rogers"

Let me get this straight. These idiots don't even have plausible scenarios that this thing could actually be useful for yet? Why am I not at all surprised?

Yeah, if they're talking bullets from pistols, or maybe .223... During my time in the Army, we were warned that a hit from a .50-equivalent (Rooskie 12.7mm) was better, because it would penetrate straight through one side and out the other. But the .308 equivalent (Rooskie 7.62x54) would penetrate one side, then ricochet around inside causing many unpleasantries for those within.

Any full power .30 caliber round or higher in AP or FMJ will penetrate the 1/2" aluminum armor on the side walls.
