Amazingly enough, that didn't make the local paper here until today.

I guess it was a slow day in Passaic for the cops. Hmmm, I wonder if I should go to Passaic and see if they will beat up a random white guy standing on a street corner with an open jacket. And the officer was given desk duty while they "investigate." What do you want to bet nothing happens to him? He deserves a "blanket party." Maybe then he would think twice about his actions.

Yet another reason I am so proud to live in NJ. :(

"Wandering with intent to purchase narcotics"? WTF?

I thought the order to zip up his jacket was ridiculous, until I read what they actually charged him with.

Welcome to the Fascist State of New Jersey. I didn't realize it was anyone's business whether my jacket was zipped, or whether or not I was walking downtown. Now I know....and knowing is half the battle!

I can't wait to get out of this state.

I don't know, but I'll buy one and wear it up there to see what they do. Knowing the cops in Passaic County it could have been a smiley face and he would have gotten whacked. They don't have much patience over there. One of my friends is going to trial over there on Thursday for equally flimsy charges. He was in Paterson though.

Just a follow up...

It appears that the cop who did the beating got suspended with pay. The one who stood and watched, and apparently filed a false report, was suspended without pay.

Perhaps there is hope for New Jersey yet. One of the comments reads:

"Maybe now with more video cameras and cellphones the abuse the public has had to suffer at the hand of the police will come to an end,"

I'll be in contact with those who have commented on this article and the prior one. Perhaps we can get some new recruits out of this poor man's suffering.

No, they'll make it so it a felony to video record a police officer without their permission and arrest anyone who does.

Gotta love the implication. Beating the crap out of someone is punished more leniently than lying to your boss on his paperwork.

I draw 2 conclusions from that:
1. It's ok to beat the shit out of people, but don't lie to the government
2. If your buddy is beating the shit out of someone you need to help or you wil bel punished.

(The cops that don't cover for their "brothers" in blue are shot and then blamed on drug dealers. Like every other organized crime syndicate does.)

Cops push anyone that might be a good cop out of the system they don't want to work with someone that might make their job hard to do. Like anyone that thinks you as a cop should follow rules or laws.

It may already be in New Jersey, though that wouldn't stop them if it weren't. They are a tad more creative with things here. I do believe this may well be the most corrupt state in the union.  Our politicians and their minions have raised lying, bribery, corruption, thievery, and thuggery to a real art form. I'm surprised either of them got in any trouble at all.  Most of the time these sorts of things just get swept under the rug and are never mentioned again.
