One thing that I don't see (and I could've missed it) discussed on this thread is the violence inherent in direct taxation.  When men with guns force someone to give up a portion of the product of their labor, what do you call it?

How much violence in the US is currently attributed to people who were violent against government officials because they didn't want to pay their taxes? What percentage of overall violence is caused by this? Do you have a verifiable statistic on that?

No, I don't.  I'm referring however to the threat of violence inherent in a coercive system of taxation.  In all but a very few cases, the government officials are the ones employing the violence.
