According to the article, it looks like (additional?) manufacturing environmental regulations may be places on some TVs of a certain size.  It's a horrible thing and makes zero sense, but it's as bad you your title suggests.

I figured California retailers would lose out on the business as people go across state lines to buy them. After reading the proposed regulations, though, I see that manufacturers will just comply with them - after fighting them, of course.

I can't wait for the video of Maria Shriver watching her 60 inch TV in the governor's mansion.

(Well... because she was caught on VDO talking on her cell phone while driving... cause that's illegal in California too.)
