Jealous of both of you.

I'll be getting a Mac Mini in a couple years though.
My monitor and keyboard work just fine.

Guess what arrived today?  ;D

By the shipping schedule, we weren't expecting it until Monday. It arrived about 10 minutes before I had to leave for work. When I get home, I have to hook up Mary's new gas range, but first I might take a few minutes to start migrating my user data from the Hackintosh. It will probably take all night anyway, might as well get started now.

I was looking at the GPU and CPU info and was amazed to realize that there will be billions of transistors in the computer... when I was a kid it was a big deal to have 3 transistors in your radio.  :D
Are you sure they had transistors?   >:D

Man, how big a building, how much electricity etc. would that take.   ;D ;D ;D

Despite my misgivings about the keyboard and mouse, I love them both. Especially the mouse: it's like scrolling is an entirely new experience. A page flows like water. Or with a quick flick, it takes you to the start or end.

The only thing I don't like is the lack of a center click, which I had programmed as a Command-click on my previous mice. I have to use my left hand to hold the Command key while clicking to open links in new tabs behind the current tab. Not a problem, unless you're on the phone or otherwise don't have a free hand. But since this keyboard doesn't have a 10-key pad, I found out I can reach the right Command key with my thumb while clicking the mouse. Thanks, Mom, for those endless phone calls!

Heading over to pick up the i5 iMac... One small step for Apple, one giant leap for this old man!

Woohoo!

Took longer to find the password for the wireless router than it took to set up the computer.

Beyond my expectations, which were high. Really like the mouse and the wireless keyboard is sexy cool.

The activity monitor showing 4 cpus working... vvvvrrroom... almost totally silent. Have to put my ear against it to hear the fan, quieter than the ambient background noise.

I recently bought a RAZR go-phone and swapped the SIM to replace my ancient (and dead) LG phone. This was my first Bluetooth phone, and it was cool to launch iSync, click the "discover" button, import all my phone numbers to Address Book, edit them, delete duplicates, and then sync the phone. It took maybe 20 minutes total on the computer, but would have taken a couple of hours on the phone.

The RAZR UI sucks, by the way. It's pretty, but it sucks. The hardware is excellent, though.

I keep being surprised by that wireless keyboard. It's tiny, but it's solid and has a surprising heft. I love the mouse, but I'll be glad when they come up with a multi-touch gesture that simulates a center click.
