Ozark Police Officer Tasers 10-Year-Old Girl
posted 11/17/09 2:16 pm

Ozark - Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle says one of his officers used a Taser on a 10-year-old girl who was combative when the officer tried to get the girl into a patrol car to be taken to a youth shelter.

Noggle said Tuesday that officer Dustin Bradshaw went to the girl's home after her mother called police woman called police.

According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Thursday, the officer found the girl on the floor of the house screaming and crying. She refused to follow her mother's instructions and the mother told Bradshaw to use his Taser. Say It On 7:

Bradshaw carried the girl to the living room and told her she was going to jail, according to the report. The girl was violently kicking, the report said, and struck Bradshaw in the groin with her legs and feet. The report said Bradshaw administered a "very, very brief" stun with the Taser, put the girl in handcuffs and carried her to his patrol car.

She was taken to the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil.

BTW, this is the same police department that tasered a teenager last year, because he was "uncooperative" and "behaving bizarrely". Both traits are understandable, since he had just fallen off an overpass and had a broken neck.

How sad. Yet  now this ten year old will be sexally molested, abused and doped.

She most likely would have gotten to the point of being so far out of control if parents were able to discipline their kids without the fear of jail.

How many moms and dads have been locked away because they took their own child over their knees and gave them a spanking?  Now parents turn to the state approved "professionals" who do things like taser the kids.

Ogre

Good point, lildog. Society, in general, lives in total fear of the government.

I was talking with some people about "the good old days" yesterday -- the idea that if today, you saw a teenager doing something like vandalism, an adult talking to them would have no effect. And if you actually used physical force to stop them? You would SO be in jail. And as an adult male just over six feet tall, no matter what I said, I'd be guilty of sexually molesting the "kid" just because I talked to them. I don't know what the solution is, but perhaps this mother thought that it would be better to be the first one to call the cops, because they're usually listened to first. If, instead, the mother had resorted to using physical force to restrain their own child, someone may have called the police on her, and SHE would be the one in jail.

That's a difficult choice for many to make when in that situation -- you either call the cops and risk a tasering for your child, or you go to jail yourself and lose custody of the child.

What a country.

I read that the father was already trying to get custody.

Have you ever seen some kid acting up in public, and the mother points to a pair of nearby cops and yells, "If you don't straighten up, those policemen are going to take you to jail! Is that what you want?"

I guarantee that was in play here.
