RI man gets life for bestiality

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - A Warwick man has been sentenced to life in prison for bestiality and other crimes.

Superior Court Judge Edward Clifton told James Cook at his sentencing hearing yesterday that he had committed "despicable" acts and had shown no remorse. The judge called him "wicked."

The Providence Journal reports that the 47-year-old Cook must register as a sex offender if he is released on parole from his prison sentence and must also undergo sex offender counseling.

Besides bestiality, Cook was also convicted in March of crimes including first-degree sexual assault and identity fraud.
