SIG SAUER® ACADEMY

HOSTING A SUMMER OF HOT EVENTS

EPPING, NH (June 18, 2010) - The world renowned SIG SAUER Academy, located in Epping, New Hampshire, has planned  a summer full of special events and guest instructors to fill the lazy days of summer. The end of June and all of July promise to provide everyone from those new to the sport of shooting, to serious competitors and those sworn to protect us, events and special courses including the first SIG SAUER Steel Challenge.

The SIG SAUER Academy is kicking off the summer season with the New England Regional Ruger Rimfire Series on Saturday, June 19 at the SIG SAUER Epping facility. This is a great opportunity to get the whole family out whether you are an experienced shooter or are just curious. Nothing but .22LR pistols and rifles in the Open and Limited divisions. If you don't have your own rimfire firearm, the SIG SAUER Academy will have many on loan and .22LR ammo will be available for sale. The event starts at 8 a.m. with registration and a safety brief and runs all day from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  There will be plenty of random drawings and prizes, including Ruger and SIG SAUER rimfire pistols and rifles. Juniors shoot for FREE if accompanied by an adult competitor. It's $40 at the door and $30 if you sign up before Saturday. Contact kathleen.randolph@sigsauer.com  or call 603-679-2003 for more information and sign up now.

The SIG SAUER Academy welcomes internationally respected and recognized instructor Steve Tarani to its facility. Steve will be teaching a two-day course on Active Countermeasures  at the Epping facility on July 17 -18, 2010. This unique class is a hands-on program providing the student with the essential training skills necessary for immediate action, rapid deployment and utilization of real-world threat-response skills utilizing a handgun only. Far from "square range" mentality, this program of instruction includes specialized training in CQB Handgun, Contact Weapon Defense (edged and impact weapons), Weapon Retention and Control, Counter-retention and Ground Recovery with Weapons.

To provide graduates with physical skills in Handgun Active Counter Measures against life-threatening assaults, under duress and at extreme close quarters, this unique course stands boldly apart from "institutionalized" programs of instruction as it incorporates live-fire interactive Active Counter-Measures training with a handgun.  Bridging the gap between "fighting with a gun" and fighting with just about anything you can get your hands on – this course will train you to use your firearm, your environment and even your bare hands to maintain personal/group safety and operational integrity in the event of real-world threat engagement at contact ranges. To register for this once – in – a – lifetime opportunity to train with Steve Tarani, call 603-679-2003 or email kathleen.randolph@sigsauer.com.

Max Michel, the SIG SAUER Shooting Team Captain and world champion shooter, will be teaching Mastering the Steel Challenge on July 29-30, 2010 at the SIG SAUER Academy in preparation for the 1st Annual SIG SAUER Steel Challenge held at the Academy on July 31, 2010. If you have ever wanted to compete with the big guys, this is your chance. The class is limited to 10 students and all students will be squadded with Max Michel at the Steel Challenge on July 31. Learn fundamentals, target awareness, stage strategies and techniques and how to enter and exit positions for maximum effectiveness.
