New Hampshire has the highest median income of any state in the nation, according to recent statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The state's median income is $65,028 per year, according to the Bureau, which based its calculations on the average median incomes from 2008 and 2009. New Jersey ranked a close second at $64,918, while Connecticut came in third at $64,644.

Mississippi had the lowest median income in the nation, at $35,693. That's 45 percent less than New Hampshire.

Democrats lauded the news as evidence that their efforts as the state's majority party are paying off. They pointed out that New Hampshire has created more than 10,000 jobs in the past year, giving it the second fastest growing job market in the nation.

New Hampshire also ranked first for median income in 2005 and 2006, although the number then was nearly $3,000 higher than now.

surely it couldn't have anything to do with no income tax nor sales tax I'm sure.

Fluff and Stuff

Actually, NH isn't 1st or 2nd or 3rd.  In fact, it looks like things are getting worse in NH.  If anything, the policies of the Democrats helped make things worse, as they are.  I'm not sure why this was reported as news in a few mainstream media sources.

Libertango

Hmm.  While I could definitely see MD having the highest median income, what with its proximity to DC, using the Baltimore Sun as the source seems to hamper the credibility of the facts.  Here's a link to the U.S.G. Census Bureau data for 2008-2009:

The wirenh article originally cited by thinkliberty is based on a 2-year average of 2008 and 2009.  The raw data can be found at the URL given by Libertango.

The articles you cited, saying that MD is #1, are based on data for 2009 only, which you can find here.

That happens sometimes.  So I looked at the raw data and the source you posted didn't make any sense at all.  It wasn't just your source either.  A site in Boston got it completely wrong.  NH is usually in the top 7 and that is pretty good.

I don't have a source, I didn't post anything.
