This evening starting at 8:00 PM EST there was a conference call that if you were unfortunate to have missed or not been let in on, here is your opportunity.  It was my opinion and that of all the callers who spoke up, a very uplifting and positive call.
Here is the link to the topic on the FSP forum where it will be discussed.  There you will also find links to the FaceBook group and so on.  Me thinks this is one to keep an eye on!   :o

George reports there were ten people on the line this evening.  I restate that it was a VERY positive and uplifting call.

Some of the topics discussed:

~  Location:  Most participants seemed to favor Manchester as the best place overall for numerous reasons.
~  Activities:  Shooting Range Trips - Gun Stores, etc.
~  Ski Trips
~  Snowmobile Trips
~  Speakers, Speaker Lists, Getting contact info from previous potential speakers.  Cardinal Kanning speaking, Badnarik, Stephan Molyneux (spelling?) and creative/alternative ways of funding them.  Nationally known speakers with poignant, timely, current issues pertinant to liberty.
~  Rave (maybe in fun but I do like the idea personally and I think we have at least one DJ Hero ;))
~  How many people 50-100-150-200 we will expect and how to get that number pinned down a bit more.  Also what kind of facility, function hall, hotel, rental of a large commercial building, etc. will make the best option.
~  What to call it: Liberty Forum, Son of, Sister of, Liberty Gathering, Liberty Un-Conference, etc.
~  Location proximity to airport.
~  Local
~  Volunteer list for drivers.
~  Simultaneous Alt-Expo on site.
~  Dates, whether to change the dates.
~  Cost of Hotels, discounts, etc.
~  Other Activities on a less stringent schedule going on at the event.
~  Tours.  Group Activities.
~  Shuttle.
~  Display(s) of NH Liberty Activism.
~  Negotiating room rates according to anticipated turnout, best dates to get the best deals, etc..
~  Lots more.

These are ideas that were tossed around this evening and other items such as the event location which we will all be doing some investigating on, will be discussed on next weeks conference call.

Please come and help save Liberty Forum and make it something to show what you and I are all about, if you dare!   ;D

I don't know about others' reservations. I'm suggesting stick with a Nashua venue and consider the Holiday Inn on Northeastern Boulevard as a slightly downscale price place from the Crowne Plaza. Lots of meeting rooms, etc. (6 event rooms, 500 capacity). I think we should also consider other banquet facilities and places like that.

that seems like a great idea
you could do it at the same time and same town and just see how big you can make it :)

Liberty Forum has been replaced.  That wasn't hard.  A full day event for $10.

It does not (yet?) look like Liberty Forum to me. Do you think that they'll have room for "us" - the broader NH liberty comunity? Or is this maybe just another right wing takeover?

It took the Republican Party about 40 years to take over the LP.

Now that I've thought about it, this is a cool local event, but it's not at all a replacement for Liberty Forum.  A one-day event is not going to attract potential movers and out-of-towners.  It's just not worth a long trip.  When you think about some of the things that were talked about that draws people to LF, it wasn't speakers and panels nearly as much as the social opportunity and this isn't going to have that.  I feel like it's missing the most critical aspects that would make it a replacement.

It's just a new local event for people already here, for the most part, and that's still good.  I don't think it should be pushed as the fix for LF's cancellation.

since I agree that the social interaction is what makes the nh liberty forum unique
it would make more sense to throw out-of-staters a big party type event with some content
oh
i just described the altexpo :)

Particularly since that show is doing a road trip around the country ...

The whole idea of rescuing the LF is strange as it cannot be rescued unless the FSP Prez changes his mind.  Since I see almost no chance of that and I don't know of anyone trying to do that, there is no one even trying to rescue LF.

George had nothing to do with this event.  There are like 6 of these events planned for different areas of the nation.  This seems to be the one planned for the Northeast.  If there is enough interest, maybe one could also happen in Philly or NYC but nothing is planned for those areas at the moment.

As for out of staters visiting, that is expected with this event as it is the Northeast regional event, and the only one as of now.  It looks like FSP movers and NH locals from all over the state will be at the event so out of staters could get their questions answered.  If you want people to stay for a couple days, you could promote it like that too.  There are a 1/2 dozen $50-$70 per night hotels in the Manchester/Nashua area.  There are at least 3 buildings frequented/run by FSPers in the Manchester area that host events.  Other events could be organized around this event if people want.  And if there is a demand for it, it will likely happen.

The ball is in George's and Kurt's and the court of other people.  They can either organize other things around this event or not, but the vast majority of the work has already been done for them.
