Please excuse my intrusion...
I can understand the confusion,
With so much lol-kitty profusion,
But the Internet's made of a fusion
Of fish-eating toothy creatures... of another kind...

(piano picks up pace)

The Web was invented by Brits!
They even invented the bits!

Babbage used gears, prods, and slits,
Ada had first-rate programming wits.
How jolly good, one submits,
That it was no Frank and no Fritz,
Now the English tongue all ideas transmits,
One admits - thank you Brits!

(musical overture)

Yes sir, the Web was invented by Brits!
They even invented the bits!
Wilkes made sure it all fits,
Turing ate some bad apple pits,
The Colossus brought halt to the blitz,
Taylor Wane's tits now get billions of hits,
All...  thanks...  to...  the Briiiiits!

(music ends triumphantly)

But the mouse - that was all Humphrey's idea.

(the end)

And good thing they put the Internet up on Big Ben for best reception!

Turns out I could only beat up 28 Justin Biebers,
I am getting so wimpy.

Hey, don't knock it.  Now that it's been revealed that Justin's actually a lesbian, that's pretty impressive!

More evidence for the Britogenic Internet from Slashdot -- 60 Years of Business Computing Started With Tea Shops --

QuoteThe Telegraph has an article talking about the 60th anniversary of The Lyons Electronic Office I (LEO I), complete with an old video from the mid '50s about LEO II.  The LEO I was the first major computer business system.  It was installed at a large catering company in the U.K. named J Lyons and Co  that operated a chain of tea shops among other business interests.

So, blame them or praise them, November 17, 2011 will mark 60 years since the day in 1951 that the Brits started the age of business computing.  All hail our tea- and biscuit-powered computer overlords.

See?  Not tuna, tea!
