In a comment on a Union Leader piece, I saw someone complaining about Weare because "Western NH is like a different world".

Wait...wut? Fifteen miles from Concord, 20 miles from Manchester, east of Hillsborough, and it's "western NH"? I guess I didn't realize the dividing line was the Merrimac River.

I know it's all relative, but I would consider Weare to be "central NH", maybe even Merrimac Valley. Anyone else?

Depends upon where in Weare.

BikeBill lives a few miles south of the middle of No. Weare, for example.

Weare's on First.

I remember a few decades ago when a girl working for me said she might be late for the start of her 6:00 PM shift because she had to go to the western part of the state that day.  I told her that a state that is about 200 miles tall and no more than 90 miles wide doesn't have a western part, but if she started her journey at a reasonable time, she could make it from Dover to Keene and back twice and still not be late for work.

In another forum, someone seeking advice on TV antenna selection said he was in, "the northern part of the state".  He was in Milton.  I wonder if he even knows what a moose looks like.

Inga: Werewolf!

Dr. Frankenstein: Werewolf?

Igor: There.

Dr. Frankenstein: What?

Igor: There, wolf. There, castle.

Dr. Frankenstein: Why are you talking that way?

Igor: I thought you wanted to.

Dr. Frankenstein: No, I don't want to.

Igor: [shrugs] Suit yourself. I'm easy.
