Wisconsin Legislature Proposes Suspicionless Checkpoints

The Wisconsin Legislature has proposed a bill for a pilot program of checkpoints. The bill is Bill 410 in the state assembly. I was told by one assembly member that the bill has an uphill battle since it has only one sponsor.

There is however, movement on this bill in the form of fiscal estimates. Here are some of those numbers from the link below:

10 officers per checkpoint
Each officer paid $40 per hour/Total $1600
Incidental Costs are $400

Grand Total = $2,000 per Checkpoint

Adminstrative Rule Making Costs:
300 hours @ $50 Per Hour
Total cost, including salaries and fringle benefits = $15,000
